This is a really cool app. It is fully customizable though it takes a little practice to figure out what is happening. Maybe everybody already knew this, but in the strum editor, the bass strings are on the top in the treble strings are on the bottom so don't think tablature as you are putting together your strum or picking pattern! The other thing that is probably obvious but it wasn't to me was that in the strum editor each line in each bar represents a 16th note and the spaces in between indicate where in that 16th note you want the note to sound. The chord customizer is not very standard. Because the bass strings are at the top, and neck is moving from right to left instead of left to right as in standard notation. These are my wish list. I would wish for more guitar sounds and some FX. Even better if it were possible to add in stylistic elements (hammer ons, etc). That wouldn't affect the midi obviously, but it would be pretty nice for the wav export.
It's a guitar composition multi-tool!
I waited and waited and waited on this app. It's price point was high enough that I worried whether it was worth it or would even work… Turns out I had nothing to fear. This app works beautifully! The casual composer can tap on chords that are pre-arranged according to the circle of fifths, which means it's hard to make something that DOESN'T sound good. More advanced songwriters can try out different voicings or transpose and edit on the fly. Definitely worth the money. I wasn't thrilled with the distortion, but I also don't care about it - to me this is a planning and composing tool, not a performance instrument. Keep up the great work!
There are some songwriters, like myself, who can come up with oodles of melodies, but aren't masters of an instrument. Therefore, the majority of their masterpiece is stuck in their head. Now, Simple Songwriter Guitarist (and piano version) allows me to not only share my musical vision, but tell musicians the exact chords and key I'm looking for. I can even upload it into iTunes and as a midi file for demos! It's amazing. I'm so glad I can now share what's in my head and not wait for my "prince to come" and save me -- aka try to interpret my thoughts! Thanks for this! - Kitten Kuroi
