Check In Feature No Longer Works So Charged For Tix and Membership - zero customer service
*** Update to below. I sent a response to the email in the below response from Sinemia in addition to my original help email. I finally got a response telling me for check in to be valid it has to be within an hour of the movie start time. I responded that both times I had checked in 20 mins before at the theater as required (this info had been in my original help email). 2 days later I received a response that the data shows I hadn’t been at the theater when I checked in. 4 days ago I sent them the tickets, the purchase history showing no refund and LOCATION SERVICES screenshot showing me at the theater during check in and for the duration of the film. No response. **** In October Sinemia forced everyone to go careless requiring all purchases to be advance tickets. Since I had regularly done that in the past I thought no problem. But check in feature doesn’t work (looks like it’s working just fine until you get a misuse email” so the past two times I’ve used the service I’ve been charged a “misuse fee” for the full ticket price plus monthly membership fee. I reported the issue immediately to customer service - no response for 1 month now and I’m also blocked from using membership while they continue to charge me. This used to be a fantastic service but this is a big glitch and the non-existent customer service means nothing can be resolved. Don’t waste your money.

I paid for the service for the year up front (if you don’t you have to pay an additional fee). It took 3 weeks for the service to activate (for an additional fee you can have it process faster). The first 4 times I tried to use it it worked once. The other 3 times the payment declined and I didn’t hear back from multiple emails sent to their support email about the issues. I had to pay for the tickets out of pocket. The fees total up to not make it a value ($1.80 processing fee plus a $1.50 fee charged by the site you purchase tickets from). You can now get a physical card for yet another additional fee to avoid the fees (it stated there was a card when I signed up but found out after paying there was not, only the careless option with the fees) but again that continues to decrease the value. As you can see if the service worked reliably with all the additional fees the value decreases substantially. Since the service hasn’t work reliably for me I have been forced to send almost 2 dozen emails to their support email over the last month about the issues, canceling the service and issuing a refund and have never heard back to this day. Please do your research before signing up for this service....... Update: They emailed me back after posting this review and stated “the service is non-refundable”. They did not address one of my concerns or issues and have yet to respond to another email asking to please do so if they are unwilling to refund.
You will get ripped off, your account WILL be terminated for fake reasons
Be forewarned, this company WILL demand very intimate personal information, will assault you with false penalties and will rip you off sooner or later. First app wouldn’t work, when I finally activated and eventually picked a movie, the Sinemia card I paid $15 for was told card was declined, had to pay out of pocket. App then logs a penalty for not “checking in” to a movie I had to pay out of pocket. Next time card doesn’t work I need to send in my photo ID along with picture of myself holding it and other personal information so they can “prevent fraud.” Another wasted movie trip paid out of pocket. “Premium” customer support is a black hole email address, phone on “premium” card is a voice message telling you to send to that same black hole email. Today, after seeing about 6 movies over about 3 months I get you a 3rd message when trying to use my card — this time my account was terminated for a ridiculous made up accusations including “fraud.” Outright lies. They “offered” to refund the membership LESS the actual cost of the movies, or basically ZERO, so bottom line you will go through endless frustrations, fake fines and penalties and then account termination if you’re not seeing fewer than a movie every couple of months to keep them profitable. You WON’T get any financial benefit using Sinemia. I wish I heeded the 1 star review warnings. This is 10x worse than Moviepass.
