Worst update ever. Crashes. Freezes. Makes me want to go back to an FM radio
Update. As of today with their new update they actually made the app worse. It now crashes as soon as it loads. Every time. If I didn't have a lifetime subscription I would demand my money back. What more can I say that the title didn't. Aside from the poor interface design that I suppose we can get used to to, simply this app is broken 100% of the time. Perhaps the most frustrating experience using an app since I've used an iPhone v1 that it spurred me to write this article. The app constantly crashes or freezes. If the music or audio does play it always stops after 5 minutes. Then I have to hit play. Downloads always seem to lock up if trying to play them and nothing ever consistently starts where you stopped it. Timeline view should actually show the time where the audio is so at least when I start playing it can be scrubbed to the time I left at. This is the biggest failure of an app. The developers and management should all be ashamed of themselves for releasing such an unusable piece of garbage. Did they even try it out first?
As a warning to all. If you don't have auto update and you are thinking of upgrading. Don't. You will regret it. I can't believe I actually would rather go back to an fm radio than deal with this 9th level of frustration and loathing. Beware. The app does not work.
I Was Warned
A friend showed me the latest version of this app told me not to update unless I had to. After avoiding as long as I could, I was forced to anyway. My sole purpose for having Sirius is to listen to Howard, which I download on my 4th generation iPod for offline listening. After installing, the shows will no longer load on my iPod at all, so I attempted to load them on my phone. At first they wouldn't load at all, then when I did get them to load they would disappear after a few minutes. Now they are loading (on the phone) but half the time they won't play. Don't worry though, in addition to these new problems, all the old ones are still there (crashing, freezing, not saving your place on the program you're listening to, etc). This app is a bigger mess than the previous one if that's possible. I got a pop up from Sirius asking if I was liking the new app, I responded by telling them about the issues. The next day I received an e-mail from them saying they were aware of the problem and they were working on it. So far nothing has changed. I will give them a few more days to correct things; if not I will have no choice but to cancel my subscription since the app is nearly worthless to me. Besides, us long suffering Sirius subscribers have waited far too long for a decent working app already.
A work in progress...fingers crossed it won't crash
As a professional artist, I need a steady stream of music all day long to keep my creative ideas flowing. So, I chose to budget for SiriusXM in every corner of my home, office, and vehicle. Before the "ground up" redesign, the SiriusXM app was a supremely useful workhorse for me - I loved that I could customize stations and go "back in time" to listen to earlier programs. Unfortunately, so far, versions 3.0 through 3.0.31 have driven my normally calm personality into Hulk Smash mode. The app has been crashing after continuous play; crashing if I multitask with other apps; or crashing repeatedly on startup. I thought the trouble was with my faithful 4S running iOS 7.1.2, until I saw the influx of negative reviews. I just uninstalled and reinstalled v. 3.0.31 - hallelujah, it didn't crash on startup. Hopefully this is daylight on the horizon! Design-wise, I like the new ability to star my customized stations or purchase songs in-app; but I still miss the ability to go back several hours in programming (especially useful for Radio Classics shows). I can see the app is a work in progress, though. Hopefully the end result is a masterpiece!
