BATTERY FRIENDLY - RECORD YOUR WHOLE DAY
Unlike many other tracking applications Ski Tracks is designed to use less power and will last all day (1). Ski Tracks also includes a battery monitor - stopping tracking and audio if your battery level gets too low - this reduces the possibility of that end of day dead phone.
NO DATA OR PHONE SIGNAL REQUIRED FOR TRACKING
Unlike many other ski applications Ski Tracks does not require any data or phone signal for Tracking. So enjoy your skiing or riding without worrying about data costs. (See Note 2)
iOS BACKGROUND COMPLIANT APPLICATION
iPhone users can run Ski Tracks in background and while phone is locked. Continue to take and receive calls/text or run other applications while tracking.
ACCURATE SKI/SNOWBOARD STATS
Ski Tracks uses special algorithms designed for mountain users to accurately calculate your speed, slope angle and ski vertical.
Want to check your last run maximum speed or duration or even your last ascent then use the Run-by-Run analysis tool and Ski Tracks will break up your day into runs and lifts.
Why not share your Ski day in Facebook or how about emailing a file that will preview your entire day in 3D on Google Earth™.
Standard and Satellite maps are available for displaying your track, track runs, start, finish and photographs. Use the preview mode to playback your entire day.
Take photographs and they are automatically geo-tagged to your Track.
Note 1. iPhone 4 (12 hours). iPhone 4s/5/5c/5s (14 hours) - actual recording length dependant on battery condition, temperature, other background applications and phone usage.
Note 2. Ski Tracks does not need data or a phone signal to record your day, the location system on the iPhone may from time to time use data for location fixes, we have no control over this. THEREFORE WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND SETTING DATA ROAMING OFF IF YOU ARE USING YOUR PHONE ABROAD AND TURN OFF CELLULAR DATA IF YOU ARE ON A FIXED DATA PLAN.
As with all GPS receivers the quality of GPS signal can vary depending on the amount of visible sky, satellite positions, foliage, weather conditions etc. GPS will not reliably work indoors. For more information please checkout and download the User Guide from our web site.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

What's New in Version 1.3.12
+ Trim tool added to the maps tools.
+ Improved track loading performance.
+ Bug fixes.
As one who commonly skis Beaver Creek which uses Epicmix, a service by Vail Resorts that scans you at every lift and calculates your vertical feet, I was looking to go a step beyond simply vertical feet and find many more statistics. This app did a perfect job doing that. Not only does this give me Vertical Feet, but I am many statistics such as Max and Average Speed, Distance skied, Max and Min altitudes, angles, number of runs, including a run by run analysis, and much more. Additionally the difference between the Ski Tracks Vertical Feet, and the Epic Mix vertical feet was 7 vertical feet FOR THE ENITRE DAY, which is pretty impressive considering I skied nearly 35,000 feet.
This data is presented in a very clean and convent way that is easy to understand and view. I used this app from about 9am to 3:30pm with a 1 hour break where I paused the app for lunch and the battery drain was not significant, being about at 60% at 3:30pm. I would recommend this app to anyone who enjoys skiing and would like to get statistics about their skiing!
I cannot believe how many features are packed into this app, especially for only $1. The interface is simple and easy to briefly check after each run, but there is so much more detail to explore after the day is over. I love how it recognizes each run, and can display average and maximum speed, vertical displacement, and more. The ability to replay your entire day is amazing, and is good for reminiscing and remembering with buddies. The drain on the battery is acceptable: I lasted a whole day today from 10-4:30 minus a break for lunch with 30% remaining. I had to have cellular data on however, which may have drained my battery more. This is different from what other reviewers said. Other than this small issue, I am completely satisfied and will be using this app on all of my future ski trips.
Great app with few quirks
This app is great with a few quirks. I use this app this weekend while skiing at Killington resort. One quark I noticed was that the max velocity on my homepage did not match the max velocity on the run tab, and it was more than just rounding error. Another interesting thing I noticed was the graph showing the velocity of the entire day only showed one data point per run which at first I thought was the max velocity for run but it did not match. Another kind of annoying quark was that some runs showed long flat lines at the end of their velocity graphs because I was waiting in line. The app should know the run was over. Some things I would like to see added in the future our names of trails and skilifts as well as hang time data. Other than those suggestions this app was fantastic and displayed some very cool data at the end of the day.
