"This app artfully balances the excitement of interactive animation and audio effects with the traditional text-and-illustration experience."
Here in app form is the first wildly wonderful book in the New York Times bestselling series about Skippyjon Jones, the rambunctious kitty boy with very large ears and a gigantico imagination to match. In his mind, he is not a Siamese cat, he becomes the Chihuahua El Skippito, the great sword fighter. Skippito gets to speak with a Spanish accent, he gets to wear a mask and cape. And he gets to help out his Chihuahua friends down in old Mexico.
Now children can join in all the fun, they can make Skippy bounce and twirl and zoom. They can sing and clap along as the story is read by the author, Judy Schachner. There are enhancements on every page that allow viewers to interact with El Skippito and his gang as he gets the job done, yes indeed-o.
For story time, playtime, or anytime, mucho fun!

Bug fixes including:
-Faster page turns
-Faster response time
Right amount of interactivity
I get frustrated by the children's books on the iPad that have so much interactivity my kids spend all their time trying to find every interactive item that by the time we turn the page they have forgotten the story. This book is NOT like that. While there are small bits of interactivity on each page, it is secondary to the story, which is as it should be. This is a well-done book…not a game.
Great engaging story, and fun interaction! My 2 1/2 year old giggled straight through. BUT the story turns the page when you swipe sideways on the screen as well as when you touch the arrows. This is frustrating to little fingers who want to interact with the story and poke the characters, but when he swipes at the figures, his touch is making the story think he's trying to turn the page. Leads to long periods of nothing happening as it tries to load the next (or previous) page.
My son understands the arrows, and in my opinion that should be the ONLY way to turn pages.
Great book, just OK app
My daughter loves the books and I love the idea that my iPad can read them to her! However, the pages turn very slowly and the app itself isn't always completely stable. This is disappointing since this version (1.1) was supposed to correct both of those issues. Perhaps the next version . . .
That being said, I would still recommend it because it is an entertaining story and the app does a good job with the animations, voices, etc. My 2-year old loves it.
