Essential tool for making and sharing screen annotations
This tool is s significant speed up and power up on the built-in screen capture fnctionality that OS X provides to all users.
- The timed screen shot is excellent for preparing just the right window and waiting for a tool tip to draw or to get the mouse out of the way.
- The quick editing tools are excellent - especially resizing, hilighting, blurring sensitive text with square pixels.
- The dragging of png to wherever you need the screen shot also is a nice productivity enhancement by not having to save files to the filesystem.
A really excellent tool
Skitch is a fantastic work tool. It makes sharing screenshots (of reports, websites, anything) super easy. I’m also able to annotate images quickly, which is important. Before Skitch I had to take a screen shot and then open it up in a bulky photo editor. Skitch lets me do what I need to quickly. My only request would be an easy way to stitch pictures together for comparison, or for when multiple screenshots need to be added together as I scroll down a long page.
Show and tell
Skitch is so helpful when I’m making a “how-to” note for my husband or co-worker. They get pictures of the screen with circles and arrows and a number on each one … #1 click here, #2 type here, etc. And of course I use it for my own “help” reminders of obscure tricks. The only catch is you have to be careful to save a copy of the picture outside of Evernote, otherwise if you delete it from Evernote it is gone forever.
