Skitch - Snap. Mark up. Share.
Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
See something that sparks an idea? Use Skitch to snap it, mark it up, and send it on in an instant. Your bold ideas stand out even brighter with Skitch.
People everywhere use Skitch to help them visually share their thoughts with others. Here are a few ways you can use it, too:
Mark up photos of silly, cool, or inspiring things you see and share them via social, email, SMS, and more.
Annotate photos of your backyard to plan out your vegetable garden.
Share a diagram of the earth’s layers and have students label it with you
Capture a map, mark it up, and share it with your friends to show them where you'll be.
Open a PDF and highlight changes to skip the lengthy, confusing email chains and give clear feedback.
Skitch’s PDF Markup feature requires an Evernote Premium account.
An Evernote account is required to save to Evernote. All other capturing, mark up and saving and sharing functions are free and do not require an Evernote account.

Great little program
This ‘screen capture program’ really has it all. Sure Apple’s ‘Preview’ can capture but you still have to go through steps to get it to do what ‘Skitch’ can do right from the Skitch window using the icons. Being able to highlight captured text and use symbols and annotate with an eye catching symbol and/or bring attention to an object or text is simple and really nice. A full compliment of capture ability is all in this software.
Being able to annotate, crop, highlight, markup, prelate, resize, well just about everything you’d want a capture app to do.
Everything is handy and easy to user. I had it on my computer for months and forgot asbout it. When I saw what it does I made it my main capture utility. So far no slow down problems but I don’t use Evernote much so I don’t know if that causes any problems with slow down.
One thing I would like is that it could be used with Microsoft’s ‘One Note’ as well as Evernote. That would be a great addition!
Overall this is a very good capture utility.
I use Skitch every day, I’ve found so many uses for this little screen capture program. If you have an Evernote account it becomes even more useful; you can screen capture receipts and file them with ease, capture notes, annotate them, and mail them to your group for action… because a ‘picture says a thousand words’. I cannot stress easy it is to use Skitch; the icon sits at the top of the screen and provides you with just the tools you need to quickly capture a shot, annotate if needed, and pull and drag (in SEVERAL formats) to the progam of choice. Skitch goes away when doing this, basically moving out of the way so that you can drag and drop with impunity. I’ve used other screen capture apps, and Skitch is hands down the lightest in terms of resource use, and the most versatile. 5 stars all the way.
Great app for quick screen shots
Since making the move from using a PC for work to a Mac, I found myself missing my old screen capture applicaiton. There was a Mac version, but it honestly wasn’t ported well. Skitch has filled that gap for me, making it easy for me to capture and annotate screen shots. People at work frequently ask me what app I’m using. Combining it with Evernote is handy, too, in case I capture something and want to refer to it on another device. Sad to hear that Evernote is discontinuing the iOS version, but I honestly haven’t had as much use for Skitch on iOS. It may not be as fully featured as some other applications, but it does everything I need it to.
