TONS of Potential -- Needs Users
Excellent idea, especially for everyone with FOMO (which is all of Los Angeles)...
Hurdles Specific to App Effectiveness:
This app relies heavily on a LOT of people using it -- and even more challenging, it relies on people to check in at relevant times in order to display the most accurate hotness of any location at any given time... basically, the "hotness" of Club A will only be accurate when a bunch of people check in who all happen to be using this app.
App Glitches:
After creating my account, it kept giving me the waiting prompt of "don't you hate awkward silences?" And never stopped. I switched tabs to the Map to see what's around me and it never loaded except for blank blue screen (the color of google maps ocean) and I zoomed in and out but nothing loaded. I then switched back to the "Places" tab and finally saw places and ratings... but that's when I noticed the issue of "person A checks in at 6pm when it's slow and no one else checks in all night, so by 11pm when it IS busy, people who aren't there will still only see the review from the guy from 6pm when it was slow."
Basically, I noticed that at 9pm there were places around me that I KNOW are busy, but because only one person checked in, it came up as "cold" on the Skorch scale.
Love the app, love the layout, UI/UX, love the concept (brilliant logo too!).

Way Better Version of Yelp!
This app is great!
You can search for and find popular and highly rated places around you, similar to Yelp, but the locations are curated so you don't have to worry about rando/sketch places popping up, like you do with yelp. It's so nice to trust that you're actually finding the BEST places around you, because you know the app already took the time to screen out the bad places!
There's also the ability to refine your search on the app, which is great for locals and tourists, because you can narrow down your search to exactly what type of place you're looking for, and not have to sort through a bunch of different places around you.
Love this app and can't wait to tell my friends about it so we can all find the best places to go for Sunday brunch or Friday girls night out!
Cool Idea
Seems like a really cool idea and great for somewhere like LA where there's so many places to try! Very helpful and relevant. Really could see this blowing up when a lot of people start using it.
