Description

Skuga is a cycling-app designed to re-ride your own Strava-rides on a smart trainer, either from Tacx (Bushido, Vortex, Neo, Genius and Flow smart trainers) or from Wahoo Fitness (KICKR and KICKR Snap). So you are your own opponent. A Skuga-ride is uploaded (of course) to Strava and you can use that ride the next time to race against your improved self. Where or whenever you did a ride: re-ride it with Skuga.

Note: Skuga is free to all Strava Premium members and will create a free Kinomap account for you.

Skuga simply delivers the best cycling experience ever for those who own a smart trainer from Tacx or Wahoo Fitness. Automatic braking, e-bike, the smoothest riding-engine ever created for an indoor trainer, Skuga has it all. Made by a cyclist, made for cyclists.

Skuga introduces true novelties. Skuga is the first indoor-trainer software ever that has e-brakes. It knows, using complex mathematics, when to brake and how hard to brake. Plus: it is also the first software ever that contains a digital e-bike! And... with Skuga you can improve your PR's indoors because it supports Strava Segments in a beautiful way. You could, if you really try hard, even ride a KOM.

You need a smart trainer from Tacx or Wahoo Fitness to use Skuga (and you can use an optional cadence sensor and heart rate belt). You also need a Strava account. Plus: you make Skuga more interesting by having an Instagram account too (if you have: chances are you will experience the essence of life while cycling). With an Instagram account you can fully enjoy the fantastic InstaWall that is a part of Skuga.

This app offers the most realistic road and off-road experience ever. Mountainbikers, climbers, rough-terrain riders: you all will be surprised! Ride in cities (without having to breath car-exhaust) and you will be stunned by the precision. Whatever ride you pick: Skuga will quickly become your favorite app.

Skuga has a special setting for when you are injured, making it possible for you to ride your own rides without putting much strain on your knees, on whatever terrain. This is a perfect training to help to get you back on the (real) road. Rides like these are uploaded to Strava too, as indoor training. If you cannot make it on that last stretch of a tough climb the digital e-bike can do that for you. The e-bike is intended to save your knees, a perfect tool for when you are injured.

The bluetooth connection puts a little extra load on the battery of your device. So make sure it is fully charged before stepping on your bike. When you put Skuga to the background it keeps running while you ride. So check your battery status now and then. Displays are all in kilometers or miles, depending on the settings of your device.

There is a lot to see in the app. Instagram-photo's and video's, taken at the location where you ride. If you like them: double-tap them. But there are interesting statistics too.

Enough!

Download. Ride. And fall in love with it.

PS: Remember the segments? That appear during your ride? You won't find a greater motivator. Anywhere.

Rotate display on iPhone

Kantwin

I've been looking for an app that would allow me to ride a previous ride, or planned route, displaying both map and elevation. Skuga is the one that has met my requirements so far, and to be able to "race" my previous ride is a great bonus. My biggest complaint so far is that it won't rotate to horizontal on the iPhone. I would like to see that so I could mirror the phone to a large TV, and have it fill the TV, and get the full screeen of the TV filled with data. I realize the iPad does better horizontally, but it is still 4x3, rather than the 16x9 of the iPhone and TV. All in all - a good app for what I need.

Good first attempt

I really like the concept, and I think this app could be great if the appropriate dev efforts are put in place. The gui could be better, and speed calculation has to be improved (way too fast vs real life) and there seems to be a lag between the grade indicated on screen vs. the resistance applied on the Rainer (Tacx vortex in mi case). I will keep using it waiting for improvements. A "help" function would be nice too. There are a few functions that I have no idea how to use.

It's interesting

Equ1nt1s

GUI looks pretty rough and the controls aren't much better. The calculated speed is insanely faster than real life and anything higher than 7% demolishes your knees. Redeeming quality, it provides a graphical "reminder" to what you were riding that a dumb head unit couldn't.
