Is it a star or Saturn? Learning what’s in your night sky is now effortless with Sky Guide. Hold your iPhone or iPad up and Sky Guide automatically aligns itself to the stars above you—no setup required!

Whether you’re looking for the constellation Virgo, the Andromeda Galaxy or Mars, Sky Guide will satisfy your curiosity. You can search for thousands of celestial sights and be guided exactly where to see them in the sky above you. Just follow the arrow.

Voyage to the past or future with cinematic time controls. Know where the Moon will be later in the evening so you can capture that perfect photo. Or, witness the approach of magnificent comets and see their tails evolve as they fly around the Sun.

Want to watch a satellite pass overhead? Sky Guide features hundreds of visible satellites for you to identify and track. You can also schedule reminders or get notifications of when the International Space Station is due to fly over — even on your Apple Watch!

Sky Guide contains immersive visuals unlike any star app you have seen before. With exclusive imagery adapted from high-resolution photographs, you’ll see millions of stars and feel as though you're spacewalking! Or, if you're feeling more earthbound, gesture down the intensity of star light to match an urban view.

Sky Guide may have few buttons but it has ample content. With richly illustrated and cross-linked articles—many by leading astronomical authors—countless enlightened moments await novice and seasoned stargazers alike.

Plus, Sky Guide functions with or without a Wi-Fi, data, or GPS signal. Take it camping or use it overseas. Everything is at your fingertips at all times, in all places.

Additional Features:

• Apple Watch support: See a calendar of upcoming astronomical events — the full moon, meteor showers, eclipses, and more. Sky Guide can send you a notification when an event is about to happen in the skies above your location. And it will even alert you when the International Space Station is due to fly over — and let you tweet one of its astronauts.

• Soundscape: Designed by award-winning composer Mat Jarvis. Stars have sounds based on their temperature and size.

• Time-lapse Effects: See star trails when you move through time quickly (supported on devices with A7 processor and higher).

• Notification Center Widget: At-a-glance essentials including rise and set times for the Sun, Moon and planets (requires iOS 8).

• Filter: X-ray the sky and explore invisible wonders.

• Red night mode: Preserve your dark-adapted eyesight.

Please note: Sky Guide requires a gyroscope, so it doesn't work with iPad 1 or iPhone 3GS and earlier.

What's New in Version 4.2.1

Sky Guide is now available for Apple Watch! See a calendar of upcoming astronomical events — the full moon, meteor showers, eclipses, and more. Sky Guide can send you a notification when an event is about to happen in the skies above your location. And it will even alert you when the International Space Station is due to fly over — and let you tweet one of its astronauts.

This update now includes all satellite information at no additional cost! We're giving you access to over 250 of the brightest satellites, complete with timetables, illustrations, and detailed information of their histories. Track the International Space Station, Hubble and super-bright Iridium satellites, with sightings calculated based on your location.

Sky Guide Application

So i tried numerous star apps such as star walk, the night sky, etc. and when I saw how acclaimed this app was i figured that it was no biggie for 2 dollars to try it. So, this app features spectacular item finding that can be either set to motion controls, or just "sliding around" the sky. The app will help navigate you to the celestial object via a big arrow, which is pretty cool for basic naked eye stargazing. But i have a telescope.
So, the star hopping is much more helpful and accurate than in an app like star walk. Lastly, i would like to just acclaim the information interface. Each object in the sky gets a brief overview of the object and a link to wikipedia. So
when you factor out the quality of this app and its price, especially compared to apps that are more expensive (again, like star walk), then this particular app is much, much better than all the other apps. I can't appreciate this app more! Hope this helps!

Sky Guide is the BEST!

I Love looking at the sky, stars, clouds, etc. Found Sky Guide. Not only do I get to follow the stars, constellations, moon, sun, planets, comets, satellites, but I can go forward in time, backward in time, there is information about everything that is listed in the sky in the App and I keep finding more ways to use this app. I just LOVE Sky Guide. My friends and neighbors (most of who don't have computers nor internet connections, as I live in a village with mostly poor farmers) come over to look with me. They love knowing what is that bright star in the sky, what is the planet, etc... It is highly Educational and worth the money. And it works with the wifi off. Best. Best. Best! I fully suggest this App for a great hands on course in basic Astronomy. 5 Stars!!!

Best app

I use this daily and it's as accurate as can be with the satellite add on which is a must have. I love it. This app got me really into looking at the stars at night and trying to spot all the different satellites and "space junk" floating around that I never paid mind too before. Things in the sky I may have thought were airplanes are really things like the space station, Hubble telescope, different rockets, and all different satellites. I got another iPhone instead of a different phone just because of this app. 5 stars for sure. I'd give even more if I could
