Source for all news

Excellent functionality and quite pretty for a news aggregator. The last several versions especially continue to receive polish. It looks especially great on iPad!

News is divided into sets of permanent and ever changing (whatever is popular) categories. You can also add your own. Select on a source and you get the first few lines of the article as a summary and then you can continue on to the website which is generally fully functional as a browser at that point.

Some hints and suggestions:
The "summary" step is new. Sometimes it saves me from wasting a trip to a website but most of the time I prefer the old function of jumping straight to the web page--they should add a setting to let you choose how you want it to work.

It's not obvious but you now have some control over the sources by selecting which "interests" to follow. For instance you can see everything from a particular news outlet for a particular category but you cannot say I only want news from X, Y, and Z.

The search feature is very nice and you can follow a search to get the most recent news on a person or topic. It even has a little marker to let you know when it has found something new!

I do not use social networking so I cannot comment on that but there is integration for the usual services.

Overall, one of my favorite apps and it keeps improving!

Used to love this App

This used to be a great app: I loved its information dense user interface where I could tell what was new an interesting at a glance, without scrolling, and I could organize information in the order in which I wanted to see it. No more. I used to bring it up many times a day to check what was new. I haven't gotten rid of it but now I bring it up maybe a couple of times a month to see if its developers have heeded customer calls to bring back its old info-dense user interface. A couple of years ago one or more user interface idiots got a hold of this app and decided to ruin it: now it takes lots of effort, many clicks and lots of scrolling to get what used to be available at a single quick glance. The new interface is a click/scroll nightmare. And cannot be tailored to my preference anymore either. Wonderful. Not. Interestingly, online newspapers have gone in the opposite direction: from this sort of poor, information sparse interface to an information dense grid format very much like what this used to be. Did you guys hire a failed online newspaper designer?

Like it but seriously lacking and annoying

I would like this news app except it has some major shortcomings. And makes me wonder if all those rave reviews were planted.
It doesn't save where you were at if you temporarily leave the app. This is a big deal when I'm in a tech article that is reviewing another app, want to go check it out (maybe even download it), and, when returning to this news app, it ends up outside of the article and at the top of the category you were in. You had gone down quite a bit, loading 'more' articles a few times before you ended up in that article? Exit the app & come back in? You have to go back through scrolling down, loading 'more' results before getting to where you left off in browsing through the articles. That alone is why I'm already considering deleting it.
Ok start but still seriously lacking, especially when so many more developed, robust, and free news apps are already available.
One thing I do love? The format and look. Huge plus. I still have hope and may try it out again once they've made updates to it.
