iPad Screenshots

The Skype you know and love has an all-new design, optimized to help you stay connected with the people you care about most.

What can I do with Skype?

• Communicate easily with the people in your life through free Skype-to-Skype video/audio calls, personalized messaging, and low-rate calling to mobiles and landlines around the world.
• Message: send photos, videos, voice messages, emoticons, Mojis, react to messages, and more.
• Groups: Free group video and audio calling for up to 25 participants, group chat with up to 300 people, plan or play with bots, add-ins, and personalized features

Upgrading to the new Skype may result in the deletion of content from older conversations.
To save photos and videos that were previously sent or received in an older version of Skype, save that content to your camera roll/photo gallery before upgrading to the new Skype.

Note: Skype-to-Skype calls and messages are always free when used on an unlimited data plan or WiFi connection. Otherwise, operator data charges may apply.

System requirements:
iOS 10.0 or above.

So angry about the new update

The original volcarna

Yes, the update makes skype more like the one for phone. I do like the fact that I can change to dark theme. EVERYTHING ELSE I ABSOLUTELY HATE! Because of all the new changes, I think skype is now ugly. I don’t like that you have to wait to send a reply because if you don’t you’ll accidentally hit ‘send location’ after you have typed something. It’s soooooo laggy and buggy. Sometimes I’ll write something very long and meaningful to send to another person- and normally it’s important, and then skype will reload. It’s so annoying and I despise it with the power of a thousand suns. Not to mention the fact that it’s harder to delete contacts that I deleted a long time ago- but because of the update suddenly have again, my hidden conversations have come back up too! I’m just really annoyed. I wish they would make a new update that doesn’t have skype go backwards instead of forward. I really enjoy Skype but the new update has really upset me. But I’m only one person- disregard all of this if you like.

Not getting any notification about missed calls

Today I have missed another important call and there was absolutely no any kind of notification that I have received a call. No app badge, no alert, no history, even though they are all enabled. That’s it. I am rating this app and its incompetent Microsoft team an absolute zero. Unfortunately, there is no “absolute zero”. Assume you got one from me.

I have all notification types enabled (app badge icon, alerts, show on lick screen, show in history, etc), and per title, I am not getting any notifications for missed calls.

Eg, I turn wi-fi off for a few hours. Someone calls me (not via Skype phone just via regular Skype call). When I turn my wi-fi back on and wait, not getting any notification neither via app badge icon, lock screen, or in history, that someone has called me. The only way to know is if I open Skype and then I can see I have “missed calls”.

Been using Skype on a daily basis in the past month and never received notifications for any of my missed calls.

Developer Response

Hi nutella_98, sorry to hear this. It sounds like you have everything correctly configured but have you tried signing out and then signing back in to Skype? And just to double-check, are you using the latest version of the Skype for iPad app which is 8.25? Miikka (Skype PM)

So Happy

Being from the older generation, I am so happy to have Skype, and all the other great technology like FaceTime, Line, FB Messenger, etc. My son lives on the other side of the world (literally), and we talk frequently on Skype. I take and give language lessons on Skype via people met on iTalki, and communicate with them via whatever app we decide to use.
Skype particularly is excellent, and usually have a great connection with my son and his family, so I can watch my granddaughter play!
