Action style rpg for iOS
It's a basic game at face value it uses a traditional control scheme, left and right to move button to jump which is very similar to old school NES. I like the premise, it's an action style rpg that is also like an arena style beat em' up. You level up and get exp by killing enemies and get gold and sometimes health all the while racking up points with each time you get a kill. All enemies die with one hit and bosses take at minimum 8 hits give or take. I have noticed that the gold system is very hard to control so when you get an opportunity to get something from the shop you have to almost make a life decision. And that started for me at the second time I got to the vendor. Quests are renamed from achievements. The multiplier increases with "combo" kills. So everytime you make a kill the exp meter starts increasing and then decreasing right away so you keep it up with a string or combo kills (kills in a row). Game is so far fun and addicting. Like every game on iOS they have a pay to win option mixed with free play stuff, I do believe that it is possible to get very far in this game with skill alone where you die your score is tallied up and you get "fame" points you can use to customize your gravestone, unlock new characters, customize controller layout. So the reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 is for the balance of the gold and buying options. It's a great time killer and well worth the "free" price tag.
Many games rarely ever add a challenge like this. Which isn't always as good as it sounds. Though rewarding at times it can also be extremely tedious. Going by fame points (this is what's used to buy things in the shop outside of the game) you could spend months or even years trying to unlock a character depending on two things how often you play and how well you do. However it's kind of lame to offer an in app purchase so expensive to just buy off these rewards. Rather than making the rewards a little more feasible they make them seem nearly impossible and offer a quick solution to just buy your way to glory. A basic round ending in say lvl 4-5 will earn roughly 1k Fp which can buy you absolutely nothing useful at that moment. However I think it's wonderful they do not force you to buy anything but give the opportunity to grind your way to this point if you're brave enough ^~^.
I say 4/5 because the game often times doesn't explain things fully and certain enemies /weapons you just kind of have to guess at. For some this can be exciting new test dummies for me it's a hit or miss because if I buy a bad weapon it can mean the difference of life and death lol I'm not an expert because I don't play enough but this game is certainly fun none the less!
Clunky, repetitive, and tedious
This is a very basic game, run into enemies, they die. But to balance the simple mechanic, they decided to make the enemies hurt you if they touch the clunky hit-box of you character, difficult, but still simple. This makes the most effective enemy the blob because of its round shape, which is actually a square hit-box, and it is the only enemy the comes out of the ground at an ambiguous time. An example of this enemy in action is when dodging the gravestone enemy's projectile skulls, at first it seems you should jump or dodge it somehow, but this is foolish, because if you do, you will fall right into a rising blob that you cannot expect, which does more damage if you continue to run along side it. Not to mention the terrible reward system, which gives 1/30 of the value of the first useful object in the game for each task you complete. The next useful object in the game is double the price of the previous one. In addition, you can only complete the three current "quests" at a time, which should really be called tasks for their simple requirements. This game is very similar to the game "Jetpack Joyride" but has terrible game mechanics as I mentioned before, which makes this game unoriginal, but also have no understanding of what actually made the game it rips off fun. Overall, it isn't worth the price that it was trying to sell for.
