Sleep cycle is continuously rated as the best smart alarm clock and is the world’s most used intelligent alarm clock.
* Our patented technology monitors your sleep movements using sound or vibration analysis.
* Sleep Cycle then finds the optimal time to wake you up during a 30 minute window that ends at your set alarm time.
* Recommended placement: Near the bed or on the floor.
As you sleep you go through different phases, ranging from deep sleep to light sleep. The phase you are in when your alarm goes off is critical for how tired you will feel when you wake up.
Since you move differently in bed during the different phases, Sleep Cycle can use the microphone or accelerometer in your iPhone to monitor your movements and determine which sleep phase you are in.
Sleep Cycle wakes you when you are in your lightest sleep phase.

Does what it's supposed to. WITH UPDATE
Is this the best alarm clock app out there? That I don't know because it's the only one I have purchased. I have for a long time just used the one on my phone but I wanted something to wake me up more gently and not something that feels like you get punched in the face when you hear it. This app fit the bill for a nice gentle way to wake up which is great. It takes a good week for it to figure out you sleep pattern and when it does it will pretty much wake you up at the exact same time every time when you set the alarm during that certain bracket. It's 3:27 am sadly to be exact for me. All in all it works perfectly and some have said that it doesn't pair with with the health app on the iPhone and it definitely does. So use it and sleep and blah blah blah.
UPDATE this app just got better with the iPad update! Now I can just use my iPad instead of my phone which is much much better. It has the exact same setup and wakes you up nice and easy. When the alarm goes off I just tap anywhere next to it twice and it snoozes if I need it or I just shut it off. Also I'm not sure if anyone else notices it but it uses far less battery on my iPad the my phone. It used 10 percent last night from 9:30 to 4:22 this morning which isn't bad. The phone would be easily 30 percent or more gone. All in all great job getting it to the iPad.
Pretty great app in my opinion!
So I've been using this for a while now, and I really like it. I've been curious about some of my body's functions while I'm asleep, and while this obviously can't give you every detail, you certainly can get a better understanding of your sleep patterns, such as when seems to be the most opportune time to wake up. If you can afford it, you may want to get the pro version too, because of some of the cooler stuff you get.
Obviously it's not perfect, and there are some things that could be changed or improved upon, but if you're just looking to get just a basic idea of your body then it should do just fine.
UPDATE: It still satisfies my needs, sometimes even providing more than I need, which I love. One thing I wish it had though is the ability to group sleep notes together so they can be categorized and(in case you have a lot of them for basically every situation like me) find what notes you want to use easily.
Most informative and useful app available.
I've had this app for years and am only now reviewing it which makes me feel like a heel. This app is amazing in its simplicity while still providing a slew of data about your sleep patterns. All you do is set the alarm if you want and start the app. I lay it under my pillow since I'm to lazy to tuck it under the fitted sheet. In the morning it wakes you peacefully. You hit okay, take a few seconds to review your nights sleep and then go about your day. After a few weeks, months, years you look at trends like which day of the week you get the best night sleep, average time in bed, time you go to bed, etc. tons of data to help you analyze your sleep. It can also correlate your sleep with how many steps you take if you have a newer iPhone or Apple Watch.
It's crazy awesome. Now that I have used it for years, I would have paid $100 for all of this data. And it's so easy to use.
