The Secret to Waking Up on Time
I think I have found the perfect combination of alarm clocks. I always set Sleep Cycle to be my first alarm, and another app called SpinMe Alarm Clock as my backup. Sleep Cycle usually wakes me up in my optimal wake up time, but sometimes it just isn’t enough for me and I’ll just turn it off and go back to bed. If Sleep Cycle fails to wake me up, my backup alarm SpinMe will start blaring which can only be turned off if I get out of bed and spin around twice before it finally shuts off! Crazy but it works and I haven’t been late to work since I started doing this. And no you can't just spin the phone around in your hand!
Sleep Cycle really does help in waking you up during your light sleep. I can feel it working most mornings. And I have studied the science behind sleep so I can attest that the premise of this app isn’t merely a placebo, but something that has actually been proven. However the problem that this alarm clock doesn’t solve is that sometimes (especially on nights where you get very little sleep), it can be really easy to ignore your alarm clock and really hard to wake up. That’s where SpinMe Alarm comes in, an alarm clock that is impossible to ignore and forces you awake.
I highly recommend using these 2 alarms together. Best few dollars I’ve ever spent.
Overall great app, just few changes would greatly help
I have been using this app for over a year now and I can honestly say this app has improved my ability to feel more awake in the morning without having to use the snooze button at all anymore. The app senses your movements overnight and when you make any sort of movement in the time period you set to wake up, the app gently wakes you up with a soft melody that gradually escalates in volume if you are still out cold. To my surprise when I first bought this app, I truly did feel more refreshed in the morning even when I had to wake up at 4:00am for work, so this was well worth the purchase for how well it affected the start of every day.
There are just a few changes that I would appreciate being added in the future. One would be to add a Do Not Disturb option for receiving calls or messages (yes, a little contradictory in trying to gain better sleep, but necessary in some lines of work or for family). The other change that would benefit the app's users would be to include your own custom playlist for the sleep aid since some people, like me, fall asleep easier through music rather than sounds.
Integral part of my life
I'm a college student, currently, and this app is the secret to my waking up on time. Earlier it used to be hit and miss, even with 4-5 (regular iOS) alarms lined up, each one about 15 minutes apart. Now, with this app, I simply set the time period of when I want to be woken up, place it on my bed, and get woken up on time, every single day. My favourite feature, apart from the way this app wakes me up at the apt time in my sleep, is the snooze function. With vibration turned on, especially, the app only lets me snooze until the end of my preset time period, at which point it harasses me until I wake up, and amazingly, I can snooze alarms by tapping my phone on its back which is just really cool, and convenient. Also, I've gotten good insights into my sleep by looking at the graphs and stuff.
Sleep Cycle has become an important tool that I can't live without. I highly recommend it to everyone. Even if waking up is not a big deal, this app just does it correctly and you should give it a try. It's so effective that I feel like manufacturers should implement such features natively.
