* Our patented technology monitors your sleep movements using sound or vibration analysis.
* Sleep Cycle then finds the optimal time to wake you up during a 30 minute window that ends at your set alarm time.
* Recommended placement: Near the bed or on the floor.
As you sleep you go through different phases, ranging from deep sleep to light sleep. The phase you are in when your alarm goes off is critical for how tired you will feel when you wake up.
Since you move differently in bed during the different phases, Sleep Cycle can use the microphone or accelerometer in your iPhone to monitor your movements and determine which sleep phase you are in.
Sleep Cycle wakes you when you are in your lightest sleep phase.

What's New in Version 5.4.5
New optimizations for iPhone X and iPhone 8, including improved heart rate reading and support to keep device face up during night.
Heart rate at wake-up still unreliable
For the most part, the app works pretty well. I was dismayed to see that when they updated the app to work with inductive charging positions (I.e., the phone is face up), there was no clear indication to not put the phone to sleep. I put it to sleep the first few nights because I wasn’t used to seeing the backlight on constantly (I have an 8 Plus) and awoke to see a slew of notifications saying I needed to wake my phone. While that’s not a huge deal, I found zero documentation.
Also, the update for 8 Plus heart rate monitoring at wake up still rarely, if ever works. I will sit there for at least 90 seconds with my phone starting to heat my finger with the flash because it still won’t accurately pick my heart rate up. My display will go to sleep at least three times all the while, which is useful when I’m super groggy. Needless to say, I turned the heart rate feature off.
It’s been smooth other than that. One remaining question is that when searching the help docs on the app, there’s no link to contact the developer. I’d never noticed that until I tried looking for ways to alleviate the problems noted above. That seems pretty “meh” for an app I have to pay for every year. I also pay for the Life Cycle app too.
Alarm good, recording movement bad, needs iWatch support
As an alarm clock it works well. For recording sleep analytics it’s a failure for me.
The first few weeks after I downloaded and started using the app it was great. I could see movement analytics and my occasional snoring was being recorded. I then purchased the annual support to keep the recordings. A few weeks later something happened because the app has only shown movement once or twice since then. I followed all instructions from my support case and it finally worked once more so I thought I had found the solution and closed the support case. Since then it again quit showing any movement when I sleep. I had already purchased the annual support to record my sleep analytics but that is money down the drain now.
It’s free to download and use so give it a chance. If it works for you great. If not, try Pillow. That app includes iWatch support and records my sleep movements more realistically than just using the iPhone microphone with this app.
Cool app, But has always picks up husbands snore!
Despite the developers stating that this app won’t pick you your spouses snore, that is NOT accurate. It has picked it up every time without fail and I FLAT OUT don’t snore. I think because of that, it also makes my stats a bit wonky. I don’t put a lot of faith in my deep sleep cycles it shows, due to it picking up my husbands snoring, which is bad (both his parents have sleep apnea). The stats just DON’T seem accurate. When I tossed and turned all night and felt as if I got 2 hours sleep at best, the app claims I got 98% sleep and that I had multiple solid deep sleep cycles; not possible. Maybe for my husband but NOT me.
I operate on an iPhone X and I have always remained up to date on ALL app updates and software updates. I have now been through the app monitoring 200 nights of sleep. I like the app, it’s cool, but I am a bit disappointed because there is NO way it’s accurate picking up my spouses chronic snoring habits.
