Best Alarm Ever!!
I first bought this app when in was in its prepubescent stages. The only way it monitored your sleep was having to place it by your head and I just gave up on it because my phone kept falling on the floor. But they listened and now you can use your microphone to monitor your sleep and it makes the process so much more idiot-proof. I can keep my phone on my night stand while still monitoring my sleep. But this isn't even the intended use of the app. This app isn't advertised as a sleep monitor but as an alarm clock and it's even better when it comes to that! These people took the concept of snooze and turned it into a phenomenon that makes mornings too easy. The idea that it begins to wake you up as early as thirty minutes before your set alarm time and allows you to snooze until the alarm time, makes mornings a whole lot easier. I wake up in much less of a fog and I start my day with a lot more energy. In the beginning, the difficulty of the sleep monitoring would have been my only complaint but now they've fixed it so for me, this app is perfect! I never have to worry about the alarm not waking me up, as I do the alarm in the iPhone's clock app, because it will ring until you turn it off, not simply ring for a minute and automatically shut off. It has to be manual. If I could give this more than five stars, I would!
The Secret to Waking up on Time
I think I have found the perfect combination of alarm clocks. I always set Sleep Cycle to be my first alarm, and another app called SpinMe Alarm Clock as my backup. Sleep Cycle usually wakes me up in my optimal wake up time, but sometimes it just isn’t enough for me and I’ll either snooze through it or turn it off and go back to bed. If Sleep Cycle fails to wake me up, my backup alarm SpinMe will start blaring which can only be turned off if I get out of bed and spin around twice before it finally shuts off! Crazy but it works and I haven’t been late to work since I started doing this. And no you can't just spin the phone around in your hand!
Sleep Cycle really does help in waking you up during your light sleep. I can feel it working most mornings. And I have studied the science behind sleep so I can attest that the premise of this app isn’t merely a placebo, but something that has actually been proven. However the problem that this alarm clock doesn’t solve is that sometimes (especially on nights where you get very little sleep), it can be really easy to ignore your alarm clock and really hard to wake up. That’s where SpinMe Alarm comes in, an alarm clock that is impossible to ignore and forces you awake. I highly recommend using these 2 alarms together. Best few dollars I’ve ever spent!
Makes waking up so much easier!!
I'm the type of person to set up 20 alarms for the morning and it used to work until I started being sneaky. I would wake up to the first alarm and because I would have to turn my phone on and swipe (actually look at the screen), I would end up shutting off all 19 alarms that didn't ring yet. So I downloaded two alarm clocks apps. One I had to buy (Spin Me!) and this one was free. I really thought the Spin Me would work better but it actually didn't. This app works 10x better. Because it uses the microphone to analyze your movement, you snooze it by waving your hand past it. This means I won't have to physically touch my phone, preventing me from turning off alarms. I usually have my head on the pillow and already know where to wave my hands in the morning to snooze it. What's better is that it transitions you into being awake. If you set the alarm to wake you up at 7 then it will start ringing at 6:30 and will allow you to snooze it UNTIL 7 am. What I mean is, it will keep ringing at intervals of 5 minutes I believe or 10 until 7 am. By that time (7am) you can no longer snooze it and have to shut up manually. Anyone thinking of choosing between this one and the Spin Me alarm shouldn't bother wasting their money on Spin Me. This will do just fine.
