It's not horribly expensive
The price is OK not great. The commercials are understandable advertising pays for the show to go on, however rarely do the commercials have any variety it will be the same commercial through multiple episodes of shows no matter the network just repetitive. The commercials rarely line up with the edited time slots from the network so you'll be in the middle of a show and at a point in the center of everything then. it's to commercial (very loud) commercial then comes back in that very moment then cuts away for correctly scheduled commercial just a black screen for a few seconds then show resumes. Often the shows on demand will buffer uncontrollably in the middle of a show causing you to have to close the app completely and re open it even sometimes a need to uninstall the app from my xbox and reinstall it to get things to stop buffering, same issues in my cell phone on wifi or not. Again it was OK but there are still some kinks they need to work out and prices should be about 5 bucks less for each package to call it a pick your channel line up.
Bad iPad App
I had high hopes for this idea and app given the reviews when compared to other streaming TV service. The Roku version works OK but the iPad and iPhone apps are the WORST! It doesn't play back many recorded shows aired in NBC, Comedy Chnl & CNN. The wheel-of-wait just spins and spins. I have contacted support 7 times in as many days (feeling like a new platform deserves direct feedback to help improve), but all their suggestions change nada. Unplug, reset, reinstall, re-record, rinse, repeat. Nothing changes. They have "elevated" my issue several times but I do not hear back as to the status and I asked them to email me.
Also, the show descriptions are often and shows with episodes don't show the air date so you don't know if it's one you've seen already. I have to cross-check with Comcast! That's ridiculous.
I really wanted/want this idea to work. Comcast (in my area) has had a monopoly on television WAY too long, but if Sling isn't going to listen to (see other reviews) or respond to its subscribers or to actually USE the feedback to improve, it's a waste of money.
Originally got sling app maybe 3 years ago, had it for maybe a few month before I got tired of spending money on a tv service that doesn't work, and there weren't as many channel , I sent feed back back only to get excuses that my Internet service provider was the problem, although I could watch Netflix and play online games without a single hiccup. I canceled my subscription , but formula one season rolled around again and I needed a platform to watch, so I gave sling another go..... I'm glad I did, since my first run with sling,SLING TV has made huge progress , better options as far as channels and I almost never get buffering or loading or having the app crash anymore. And nothing has changed as far as my internet service provider, for this I give 4/5 stars only reason they don't get 5 is because they blamed thier early problems on my internet instead of acknowledging the problem was on them
