Poor adaptive Bandwidth


I use the app all the time on several apple devices. It is great, but there are issues. Currently the picture turns blue on my iPhone 8 when I change to standard quality from Auto. It is VERY poor at adapting to variable bandwidths, freezing voice and video. It should at least let the voice keep going while it figures out the correct quality level for the available bandwidth. It also has issues with thinking another instance of the same Sling account is in use when it drops the connection. This is very frustrating because it could take several minutes and multiple attempts to restart the app to get it to work. On a few occasions I have had to do a power cycle to get it to work. Customer service is literally non-existent, so don’t think of getting any help after the first year, which I tried a few years ago when I had to pay for the app, and they were hardcore “not our problem, out of warranty” on the phone. They could really use a last channel feature, since all cable boxes and remotes support the feature. To be fair, you can go into the app and bring up a replica of your remote, and could get the feature there, but that takes several extra steps. On the positive it is nice to have your home tv anywhere: airports,cars, hotels or whatever. So an average review but a really cool product when you understand its limitations.

Unhappy w Slingbox

Horrible audio. Questionable video quality. This is an expensive lesson learned. An HD sling box, buying the app and rabbit-ear TV quality if you are lucky. Wish there was a better choice because this app and sling box are terrible. I turn this off in favor of bypassing the frustration. The makers know this and the automatic rate this app pop up says rate five stars or no thank you. Misleading. This app and setup are a scam through and through. We tried different hosts, tried new cables, upgraded our router to a Nighthawk.... just no getting around miserable quality.

Everything was perfect until...


... the app asked me to "write a review".

That's when I found out my installed app was something else and "to be able to write a review" I had to install the "new one" which WAS INSANELY THE SAME THING!!!!
Currently I have two Sling apps installed on this ipad...

But the worst thing is that I needed to watch a sports event... and Sling pushed this nonsensical "RATE US AT APPLE STORE" lie and by doing so I haven't been able to enjoy the sport game... gee thanks Sling!

The app was perfect on this iPad before upgrading, it was also perfect on my second iPad... and also the iPhone, it works outside on cell phone data connection with out effort... the device brand is really good...


1 STAR... because I can't give it ZERO! And that was just for the annoyance.
