Description

SlipBox is a no-frills, professional note-taking application with associative searches. It is specifically designed for maintaining a large number of notes (slips) over a long time and being able to intelligently use the accumulated knowledge with associative searches.

In contrast to most other note-taking applications, SlipBox is a universal app that provides the same user-experience across all devices. Best of all: this includes your Macintosh! Even better: the Macintosh version of SlipBox is free!

KEY FEATURES
• associative searches between slips (notes)
• simple, beautiful, distraction-free interface
• Dropbox integration
• seamless integration with the free desktop application

FURTHER FEATURES
• add, delete slips
• edit, append or duplicate slips
• view all, recent, flagged or deleted slips
• traditional searches for keywords or text
• no need to categorise your slips
• supports iTunes file-sharing (in addition to synchronisation with Dropbox)

ASSOCIATIVE SEARCHES
The basic idea is very simple: each slip (note) contains a few keywords (tags). Between slips that share at least one keyword, there is a so-called "slip scent". The more keywords are shared, the stronger the slip scent, that is, the stronger the association between the slips. Despite being so straightforward, this novel way of searching your notes is incredibly powerful and will enable you to see new connections between your thoughts. (The actual algorithm uses more information than just the number of shared keywords, but this is the main idea.)

Ratings and Reviews

Attention: Terrible Software!

Wolkenstein der Einaugig

Slipbox is and has been a very useful program on Mac Os X. That's why the version for IOS was the very first app I installed on getting my new Ipad. I wanted it so much (based on its performance on Os X) that I even plunked down $10, not realizing that that's about the most that developers charge for even the best apps. In the year following, it has proved to be an expensive but useless toy. Oh, sure, I can copy notes into a slipbox, but as for transferring it to Dropbox (as advertised), forget it! One sample slipbox is the most I've ever been able to transfer, but no others.

I feel I have to warn other potential users away from this app because of two recent developments: 1) I googled up customer support emails (dated from two years ago!) in which several users tried to get help from the developer, only to receive evasive well-how-about-that replies, followed by silence; 2) a month ago, developer came out with an "update" in which little or nothing has changed, and certainly not the Dropbox issue.

Sounds like abandonware to me, so warnings .....

Notes on steroids

Simple yet powerful note taking application offers three metadata fields and fast searches, using these fields or full text, of very large databases. The application really shines when used in conjunction with the (free!) desktop application which offers even more powerful Boolean and associative searches. Desktop version also offers many export options. Seamless synchronization between mobile and desktop databases, through Dropbox or iTunes, adds powerful functionality. I use it extensively to collect research and reading notes.

Great CRM App

Sugarman 0731

I use this App as a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool and it is nearly perfect.

I copy and paste relevant information about customers into Slip Box, and then the search algorithm is instantaneous.

This is a time saver App, and also makes it possible to keep all of my customer information in my iPad/iPhone for instant retrieval.

However, to keep the two devices "synced" I use the iPad as the "Master" and enter all new data there; and then email the Slip Box database from the iPad to my iPhone and download the emailed database to the iPhone. It would be nice if the two devices "synced"themselves over either iCloud or Dropbox.

One needed upgrade would be the ability to copy and paste PDF documents into Slip Box. Would not necessarily need to search within the PDF document, just would need to see it.
