"It’s one of those rare photography apps that creates effects that few others are capable of, and it does it easily and with better results."
— Marty Yawnick, Life In LoFi
How many times have you tried to capture artful images with your iPhone camera but were left wishing you had more features to work with? Slow Shutter Cam puts an end to mere snapshots and gives you some of the most powerful features of a DSLR camera. All this, in a package that fits in your pocket.
Slow Shutter Cam offers three capture modes to capture unique images:
MOTION BLUR: Equivalent to the shutter priority mode on a DSLR, the Motion Blur mode is perfect for creating ghost images, waterfall effects or suggesting movement in your photographs by adding a blur.
LIGHT TRAIL: The Light Trail mode allows you to 'paint' with light, show car light trails and fireworks or capture any other moving light in a unique way. Unlike shooting with a DSLR and being tied to specific rigid settings to obtain good results, the Light Trail mode takes care of the essentials, letting your creativity soar!
LOW LIGHT: In low light conditions, this capture mode allows the camera to accumulate every photon of light hitting the sensor. The longer the shutter speed, the more light it will accumulate. You can even fine-tune the result using the exposure compensation slider to achieve the exact effect you want!
● Full resolution (on every devices)
● Real time live preview
● Innovative 'Freeze' control
● Exposure compensation
● Tap to adjust focus/exposure
● Exposure lock (from shot to shot)
● Time-lapse Intervalometer
● Handy Self-Timer
With Slow Shutter Cam on your iPhone or iPod touch you get the features of a DSLR camera with the convenience of a device that you can drop in your pocket and take with you wherever you go. Download it now and put an end to mere snapshots!

What's New in Version 3.2
Here's another update for you!
- Option to share pictures from the edit view
- Picture aspect ratio including 1:1
- Sporadic crash fixes
By the way, every time we release a new version, we lose all our ratings on the App Store which negatively affects our sales. Thus, we would REALLY appreciate if you could update your rating on the App Store (simply tap the ‘Rate or Review on App Store’ button in the app settings). Many thanks!!!
As good as it gets
This app pushes the limits of the iPhone camera. I bought it for a trip to Iceland, and it more than paid for itself by the first picture of the first (of hundreds) of waterfalls.
I was not able to get any good pictures of stars, however, but that is likely due to the limits of the hardware. Keep in mind that the phone must be set on a surface, as it must be steady throughout the picture taking process.
If you're looking to take pictures of motion, this is the one stop shop.
Best slow shutter app out there
Update: Even better after yesterday's update! With full resolution output, this app solidifies its position at the top of all iOS Slow Shutter apps.
This app does slow shutter speeds better than any app out there. I'm a pro photographer, and the ability to adjust the Exposure Compensation *after the shot* and see the results in real-time...is just magical!
This app gets me one step closer to getting that perfect shot when my big DSLR is left at home.
Needs support for...
Bluetooth remotes. For instance, when I was playing around with 'Light Trail' I noticed that the photo seemed shaky even though I wasn't holding my phone when the app was active. I came to the conclusion that when I initially tapped the shutter button to start the process it caused the phone to shake ever so slightly which resulted in an unclear photo in the end. Being able to start the photo process with a Bluetooth shutter remote would make it so the photo is crystal clear in the end without any shakiness.
