"It’s one of those rare photography apps that creates effects that few others are capable of, and it does it easily and with better results."
— Marty Yawnick, Life In LoFi

How many times have you tried to capture artful images with your iPhone camera but were left wishing you had more features to work with? Slow Shutter Cam puts an end to mere snapshots and gives you some of the most powerful features of a DSLR camera. All this, in a package that fits in your pocket.

Slow Shutter Cam offers three capture modes to capture unique images:

MOTION BLUR: Equivalent to the shutter priority mode on a DSLR, the Motion Blur mode is perfect for creating ghost images, waterfall effects or suggesting movement in your photographs by adding a blur.

LIGHT TRAIL: The Light Trail mode allows you to 'paint' with light, show car light trails and fireworks or capture any other moving light in a unique way. Unlike shooting with a DSLR and being tied to specific rigid settings to obtain good results, the Light Trail mode takes care of the essentials, letting your creativity soar!

LOW LIGHT: In low light conditions, this capture mode allows the camera to accumulate every photon of light hitting the sensor. The longer the shutter speed, the more light it will accumulate. You can even fine-tune the result using the exposure compensation slider to achieve the exact effect you want!

• Unlimited Shutter Speed and manual ISO
• Option to resume capture
• Real time live preview - See the result in real time
• Innovative 'Freeze' and ‘Blur Strength’ controls
• Tap to adjust focus/exposure
• Time-lapse Intervalometer
• Apple Watch support and handy Self-Timer
• Full resolution support on every devices

With Slow Shutter Cam on your iPhone or iPod touch you get the features of a DSLR camera with the convenience of a device that you can drop in your pocket and take with you wherever you go. Download it now and put an end to mere snapshots!

Northern Lights Pics

gibson joy

I used this app on my my IPhone 6 last week in Iceland and took spectacular photos. The key is knowing which setting to use. Tap the “gear” symbol at the bottom. Set the capture mode to low light. Set the noise reduction to the far left. Set the shutter speed to 4 seconds initially. Set the ISO to the far left. You will need to adjust the shutter speed based on the brightness of the Northern Lights. If they are weak, then set the shutter speed to 8, 15 or 30 seconds. If the are strong, set it to 2 or 4 seconds. The more stable you can hold your camera, the better the pictures. I have seen selfie sticks that function as mini tripods and I believe that would be helpful. I held the camera perfectly still with just my hands and my pictures were better than I I imagined. Good luck!

Great app but beware, default resolution at 720p

Update: Thank you to the developer for the response. All around this app has the best slow shutter experience of the ones I've tried. I've updated my review to 5 stars because the app is great. I wish there had been a pop-up disclaimer upon opening the app for the first time explaining the default lower resolution setting.

Original Review: This is a great app but I'm so disappointed. I took an incredible photo while on a vacation and only had a few minutes to download the app and take it. I didn't realize the default resolution was set to 720p. Rather than a 12MP photo I could print. I now have a 960x720 photo that is too small to print larger than an 8x10.

Developer Response

Hello, At 720p, output is smoother and power consumption is lower. Considering most people are perfectly fine with 720p, this has been chosen as the default. We are very sorry that you could not print some of your vacation photos. :-(

Blown away!

This is the first app I've actually had any desire to review. Coupled with a tripod, you can achieve incredible results for low light and motion blur. Using my iPhone 7 plus, I've been able to capture better photos than my mirror less Sony NEX-5N. I've been able to take photos with no light present whatsoever and it comes out looking like daytime! Minimal noise too! It can even capture some stars which is unbelievable for a phone camera. With this app, you can also capture some wonderful night time skyline photos. If you're an avid iPhone photographer who desires more capabilities from your phones camera, this is a must have. I wish I could attach some photos to this review as proof!
