Smart Traveler, the official State Department app for U.S. travelers, invites you to see the world with easy access to frequently updated official country information, travel alerts, travel warnings, maps, U.S. embassy locations, and more.

With Smart Traveler, you can create personal itineraries, add notes, and organize your trips.

Smart Traveler also provides access to the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Free STEP enrollment enables the State Department to better assist you in emergencies such as natural disasters, unrest in foreign countries, or lost/stolen passports overseas. During your travels, STEP can help your family and friends reach you in an emergency.

Smart Traveler also provides quick access to the Department's Consular Affairs Facebook and Twitter pages. And for a bit of fun, you can shake your device to get information on a random country!

What's New in Version 1.3.0

This the third release of the SmartTraveler application. It provides travelers with country fact sheets, travel warnings, travel alerts, and provides access to the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) as well as the TravelGov twitter feed.

Seriously lacking

This app was really disappointing! I was hoping to have access to entry and exit requirements and other information that would be important while traveling abroad: locations and contact info for embassies, local emergency numbers, quick reference for local customs travelers should be aware of, etc.

I would love to see future versions of this app be more useful for practical needs of travelers, especially in the event of an emergency.

The app is worse

What happened to entry and exit requirements? You guys just made the app pointless I can google the relation and all the agreements between US and different countries. All I need is the info on the full website I used to go on the app instead of the full website now you guys are making it more difficult by making me go back to the full site. Apps are supposed to make our life's and travels more easier not worse. I hope you guys come up with a new fix soon.

What happened to this app?

Fine until recently. The entry/exit requirements are gone rendering this app useless. It is called Smart TRAVELER. Nice to know bilateral relations, number of flushing toilet per person, and so on, but has absolutely nothing to do with traveling. I travel aboard a lot for my job and I need to know what is required to enter, leave, visa required or not. Can I get a visa at the airport, or do I have to get it advance? Length of stay allowed.

What pin head(s) at the State Department made this move?
