Smart Typer is the cheapest and easiest-to-use text expander available on the Mac App Store.
We think it is an application you will love. Define a shortcut (e.g. "brp"), define the phrase (e.g. "Best regards, Paul") and you're done. That's how easy it is to use Smart Typer!
Whenever you enter the shortcut, Smart Typer will magically replace it with the text you want. So, whenever you enter "brp", Smart Typer will replace "brp" with "Best regards, Paul".
Moreover, it does not matter where you are in the system, Smart Typer will always work. It will save you time when you are entering personal data such as addresses in a web browser, email application, word processor or any other kind of application.
Enter a shortcut in any app on your Mac, press the space bar and do what you love in the time you have saved.
HOW TO GET SMART TYPER TO WORK ON MAVERICK:

Has Great Potential
I use it for writing my progress notes (I'm a mental health and marriage and family therapist). I was wondering if there is any way to only allow the phrase when typed stand alone.
For example, if I had a shortcut of nn with a long phrase... but I was attempting to type planning... Is there a pay the entire phrase doesn't populate.
And possibly allowing me to to copy or export the shortcuts in an excel document so I can print a cheat sheet... sometimes I forget the shortcut I created. :)
Also, possibly creating a way that you can't allow duplicate shortcuts.
Honestly, I appreciate this app, some of those requests are not necessary, just helpful….
Very Good, helpful, needs some tweeks
I use this for templates and instructions that I have to send out dozens of times a week or even a day. The formating of a template on one line was a little awkard the first time using it. I solved that problem by writing out what I want in text edit and then converting to the ST format.
It does not like text that starts with a numeric and some non-alphanumeric characters seem not to be recognized.
For the price and the functionality, I am very happy and have recommended this to my co-workers.
not better than the system built-in text expander
This app doesn't expand the shortcut into text instantaneously after typing, you need to press space just like the built-in expander (which for me is a drag because I choose shortcuts smartly and I like to have instant expansion).
Also character like "\" gets omitted, which makes this app totally useless for the purpose I got it for…
FYI this app can do put new line with '(n)', which is cool, however I don't need that personally.
1$ is cheap, but this is not worth it, the built in expander is as good...
