Terrible. Ads = dismal experience.
I've been a user for a few years now. The app used to be my go-to news app. But the amount of full-page, timed (non-closeable) ads have made the app extremely frustrating to use. Here's the flow. You click on a story. The page loads and you start reading. A few seconds pass (about the time you'd swipe to scroll) and a full-page app covers the screen ... with no option to close. Often you accidentally click on the ad because you were trying to swipe up to scroll. Total frustration ensues as a new browser page loads and you have to wait for it to load before you can close it and double-home-click back to the app. Deleting the app today. I'm done. Advertisers should sue SmartNews for tricking users into clicks that they are undoubtedly charging advertisers for. Shameful.
Good but need a way to block BS news ...
Pretty good but would be great if the user could block BS news like Fox News & Washington Examiner. You should add a feature to block news channels we don't want. Those channels provide totally biased news. If you did allow this, this would also help people who think the Russian investigation is a Democratic witch hunt - even though the man who ran the campaign & the top national security official have been charged with crimes. Those people could continue to live with their heads in the sand. If you could do this, I could only read real news.
SmartNews is the one to beat!
Love the extensive content and format. Would like to comment on articles and not see dishonest propaganda sites like Fox News, Investor’s Business Daily and The Jerusalem Post. These sources undermine your credibility. They really do. The mainstream media is not 100% honest but these three media outlets are immoral. Thank you!
