Hit and Miss
It's hard for small contractors now that so many companies want to get in between us and the customers. Smith is another "service" trying to do just that. The Leads on Smith seem to be more substantial than the Leads for tiny odd jobs on Home Depot's ProReferral. However, like ProReferral, this app is frustrating because many of the leads never respond. Luckily, Smith is good about refunding your credits. The credits are expensive, however, and once you sign up, you need to turn off the button that automatically purchases more credits for you. Some of the Leads seem to be phony or somehow extracted from other places on the internet, which makes me feel like I am pestering the potential customers. What is good about it? Well, some of the Leads are legit. In some cases, you can send a bid or a note Introducing yourself and the customer can ask to meet you. Then, you can spend your credits to get that customer's information.I feel like those scenarios may give me a better chance of getting the job. I'm going to cautiously keep trying with Smith.
Don’t trust this company
After several months of nonstop messages where everyday says it’s the final 12 hours to purchase half price credits we finally gave them a try. We used the app. We send one phone call and message and went back first thing the next morning but it said the job was already taken. We asked for a credit but were denied. Next I hit appointment on the app not knowing what was going to happen and the next thing I see is all my credits disappear and I had asked for or contacted anyone yet. I asked my times for the refund explaining we are new to the app and not knowing how it works. No refund. Finally I tell them they are thieves and liars and then they say sorry to see me go. No refund or proper customer service anywhere. Plus they send you leads with minimal information that can’t possibly be bid proper at that point. Don’t trust this company at all. Not trust worthy
There are bogus leads here but there are also some good ones. Too many contractors are sent to the customer and if you click the not interested button you still get charged for some reason. Smith or Friend Trusted which is it? The app does not update like it should and there needs to be a better process to categorize the leads. One lead was categorized for general contractor but the customer needed someone to move a large table and that would have cost 8 credits or $64. That's not right. I lost about $210 on credits for bogus leads or people not answering emails or calls until I found the refund request page. I have been granted refunds for all refund requests as long as it was requested within 14 days. Basically this Smith/Friend Trusted needs work but heading the right direction.
