What's New in Version 2.1.3
iOS 7.0.3 compatibility/stability issues addressed
I am not sure why all the negative reviews. This is a great app. Yes, you can watch many full episodes. My favorites are Aerial America and Mighty Ships, but there are many others.
There are two things I wish they would improve upon. If I pause a show to come back and watch later, it reloads the app and I have to reload the show and find where I left off. The other is that when I initially downloaded the app my instinct was to create a channel, and once I did so I could not figure out how to get back to the listing of all the videos.
Otherwise very clear video. NO commercials, great app.
The app offers a large variety of features, which could be tailored to your personal interests. It's a great resource to use, but the lack of the closed captioning feature makes the information inaccessible, which defeats the whole purpose of using the Smithsonian app. Due to my profound deafness, I have difficulty understanding the narration without CC. So there is no point in using this app. It's very disappointing... and frustrating. Make this app accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. Other iPhone and iPad apps (ABC, ABC Family, etc.) offer closed captioning, which is very convenient and makes the apps useful and resourceful for the hearing-impaired as it would for people with typical hearing.
I wouldn't call this a "Channel"...
Please listen Smithsonian Channel ppl...why in the world would you create an App that you cannot choose what you would like to see and call it a "Channel"??? You should just call it a preview app. I would gladly watch limited commercials to see full episodes of the shows that I enjoy within this app or the one on the Apple TV. Please, talk to your corporate sponsors to add limited (that's the keyword here, LIMITED) commercials and let the viewer watch unlimited episodes of whatever show they want. You will def lose viewers if you don't fix this right away!
