Good App

👍🏻 iHope this will inspire more South Africans to realize Apple is superior when it comes to aspiring developers, and what better place than to start at the AppStore

Escargot, anyone?

EDIT #2, Response to Developer:

A game is not--I repeat NOT Premium--when it offers consumable IAP. Period. Premium gameplay cannot be influenced by opening a wallet and spending on "boosts" and other assorted nonsense. If the game can be played and finished without using IAP, then there's no reason to include it in the first place :)

If the game ONLY had a full unlock with NO consumable IAP, THEN it would be Premium. There is no blurring the lines on this issue, no matter how much you claim that the IAP aren't "needed."

I'm not encouraged one bit to change my rating, considering you've just solidified which side of the fence you're on with your response. Prior to that, your decision to use consumable IAP.

EDIT:

Just noticed that there is consumable IAP besides the full game unlock, so this is in fact a true Freemium title, NOT a Premium game whatsoever. Yet again, Hodappium rears its ugly head, where what could have been a legitimate concept becomes a shameless cash grab. My rating has been adjusted accordingly. Remove the consumables and the rating goes back to four stars.

Original Review:

I'm a sucker for snails with perfect teeth and buttery animations, along with sticky, slimy, suction cup wall jumping, so it was easy to slide into this one. I also applaud the free download/full unlock monetization model used here as well. It's the best option for the AppStore, even if the practitioners of Hodappium would have you believe otherwise. However, the use of in-game currency and boosts serve as the foundation for a switch to Freemium, so it should be of no surprise if this does in fact happen at a later date.

The frame rate is subpar in comparison to the animations and the overall aesthetic, so seeing that aspect of the game improved upon would be good. It would also behoove gameplay if the player could hold the screen to hop repeatedly, instead of having to tap each time to cover a large distance. I'd offer more feedback on the TA forums to the developer directly, but...we all know how that story goes.

Nothing super original, but I'd be lying if I said there was no potential here. I'll have to edit this review for elaboration if I decide to unlock the game in full. Until then, I'll slap a four-fer on it and call it a day.
