Don't Teach What You Don't Know
This app, unfortunately, comes across as a bit illiterate. Several words are mispronounced, as one reviewer mentioned. Charming and Lackadaisical come to mind. And since the word Snuggle has 2 Gs, Snuggly should also have 2. It should also be noted that "Knick-Knack" is not an adjective, but is instead a thing, a noun. So it can't be used to describe a person or an animal.
But spelling and pronunciation are not the only problems. Some of the vocabulary words are appropriate for 5th and 6th graders, while the pictures are geared toward preschoolers. There's a big disconnect.
I agree that the pictures are nice, the idea of the flipping picture portions is good, and the idea of better-than-basic vocabulary building is a fine one. But the developers need to consult with professional educators who are native English speakers to find a more appropriate blend of features to appeal to the target age group. And the spoken portions must be delivered with accurate English pronunciation. There's a gem in here somewhere, if it can be intelligently reconfigured.
One other thought: I think it might be more entertaining if the results of mixed and matched pieces were surprising and funny combinations. Maybe it should just focus on facial features? I'm not sure. Keep working on it, though. Don't give up.
The illustrations are good, ok. But the rest could be so much better. The words are really strange and make little sense. I know that developers were trying to be original and not stick with overused A is for apple, but it just doesn't work. Also, my child is is scrolling those pieces pretty fast so all she hears is extremely annoying agh bbb fhfbf or whatever else. I have to turn the sound off when she is playing with this app. And besides, she never plays with it for longer than a minute ( she is 2 y and 3 months). So fir me it was a total failure. I wish they did something better with these cute illustrations((
Great idea... Needs help
Some of the words are just plain odd. I suppose this is because the was written by non-US English speaking people.
Which leads me to my biggest concern... Pronunciation is wrong. For example, the reader pronounces "Charming" with an SH and says sharming.
The graphics are wonderful and the app is easy to use.
