A great resource with some easily addressed usability issues.
I love the app, the content, and have committed to a year subscription. It’s rare to find the kind of high quality material SE Daily presents on a daily basis.
I would also like to see two concerns receive attention. The first is the “View Subscription” view controller where there’s both a “Cancel” button in the top left and a “Cancel Subscription” button in the center. It’s obvious what button does what, of course. At the same time, I wonder why the word “Cancel” was chosen instead of the more ubiquitous “Back” for the navigation button.
Second is the Notifications tab. On the iPhone XS Max, the toggle to enable notifications doesn’t fit within the confines of the View.
I also want to mention how after a restart of my device (XS Max), my progress in a podcast segment was lost. I suspect that this is a consequence of the restart, but I need to test a bit more to be sure. What this highlights for me, is how nice it would be to bookmark a time stamp within an individual episode for later listening.
One last thing, the player controls feel much too close to one another. It’s conceivable that these positions could work, but the buttons could be made smaller, too. Right now the space feels very busy.
Use it everyday in my commute
The app is extremely useful to find a new topic to listen to everyday. I use the search function alot and I favorite the one I like so I can listen to the episodes multiple times.
I had instances where the search bar disappears and I had to go back to make it work. But not a big deal.
Keep it up guys!
3 star usability; 5 star content
Most of us love the content, and that's why we are giving the SEDaily app a shot. I love the ability to search through the entire library, but unfortunately as a podcast player it lacks functionality like offline play, playlisting, or any other organizational features. I'd stick with the native podcast player until they iron out these deficiencies
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
