If you're a musician who learn new songs and techniques by slowing the tempo down and then looping or playing the music repetitively then you will find Song Surgeon Trainer to be a big help.
Song Surgeon Trainer is a FREE music slow downer that enables you to slow the tempo of a song down, and then set up a loop to isolate a segment for repeated playback. Song Surgeon Trainer also has a built in key change or pitch shift function which allows you to change the music ½ step at a time, while listening in real time.
With its simple intuitive interface, no instruction is required. As soon as it’s installed, you can have your first song opened in it within a few seconds.
With more than 35 instruments represented by the customers in our user base, it doesn’t matter whether you play guitar, drums, piano, banjo, trumpet, violin or anything else. You’ll find Song Surgeon Trainer to be a big asset.
What's New in Version 1.3
1.Song selection improved.
Excellent functionality but...
A previous reviewer mentioned something about only one channel. I can't attest to that. What I have seen so far is an excellent interface, the ability to change pace and pitch, and create a loop to practice a section of a song. The functions are straight forward and easy to manage.
All this for free is fantastic, however, I would like the ability to save the loops I've created. As it stands, I have to keep the current song in the app, otherwise, I lose my loop and have to find the song again if I exit to the main page.
Other than that one gripe, this is a fantastic program.
Neat but could be even better.
It delivers what they said it would. Easy design and clear however I would like to see an option to upload the final edit to another app like Dropbox or soundcloud so we can share our mixes. Other than that, it's great.
Does not recognize the position of the iPan
I am using an iPan with a keyboard in "landscape" mode. When Song Surgeon Trainer opens, the first screen displays in portrait mode. In other words, if you are using the iPad keyboard, the app appears like is on it's side.
Futhermore, on the next application screen, the app appears upside down if you are using the iPad with a keyboard.
I suggest that the developers of this app recode it so that the app is responsive to the position of the iPad.
