Good control, poor iTunes Music Library integration
The Sonos apps provides great control over your Sonos speakers. You can set alarms, merge two different speakers into a stereo pair, or synchronize the playing of music over different ones.
My biggest beef with Sonos is how it poorly integrates with my iTunes Music Library. I have over 25,000 tracks but Sonos will only import less than that. Imagine that you have playlists from A through Z but you can only play partially through T.
Also, if you subscribe to iTunes Match (or the newer branded Apple Music Library) in the cloud, your tracks will not play. You cannot play iTunes Match music unless you download the tracks to your device but only to that limit I mentioned above. I don't have Apple Music (because of problems with iTunes Match) so I am out of luck.
Since my situation puts me in a small minority of Sonos users, I am not holding my breath that I'll be able to play my music the way I want it soon. So, I'm relegated to device music, Internet radio, or one of the streaming services such as Pandora.
Great speakers. Too bad I can't play my music the way I want to.
I started with the Sonos connect. Now I have four . I run the Sonos connects in, parallel so I power four speakers per connect. I also use an old Bowes sub woofer plugged into the connect for extra base. Works amazing and will never buy an amp again. I then purchased a sound bar for the TV with subwoofer. Amazing. Kicks on immediately once the TV is on sub is always on. Great sound. No need for Dolby surround sound with the play bar. The play bar and sub woofer is enough. I then bought a Sonos play five. Really good midbass. I can't say enough for Sonos and I hope they never go out of business. Their app updates to keep up to date and I never have any disruption of service. I have called Customer Service two times for simple questions I should've been able to figure out. My questions were answered immediately. Worth the extra money for Sonos. I would like them to create a portable waterproof Sonos device I can take to the beach.
Seamless music, whole house experience
Wow. Exceeded expectations. My experience....started with 2-3 rooms of basic Sonos. Fell in love not only with the seamless sound between rooms but the fidelity and tight pounding bass and crisp highs from seemingly small speakers that literally blend into my home visually. After a great start, I quickly expanded to outdoor speakers powered by indoor amplifiers hidden in cabinets and pantry. House parties became whole house music parties including great outdoor sound. Next I dove head first into surround sound setup in our theater room and got rid of my Bose system. Much happier!! TV remote now powers on and controls my theater and my sonos systems. Works like it was made too. So happy with that setup, I added another sound bar and sub to second TV in family room. Can't say enough about how happy I am with Sonos. Easy set up, seamless integration, great sound and all my favorite music playing all over all the time. Five stars easy
