Customer Reviews

Still no dark mode option?!

I’ve been a Sonos customer for years. Their apps have always been easy to use, easy to navigate, and attractive to look at. The last major overhaul turned the app into a difficult to use and overall annoying experience. What used to take just a few simple taps is now confusing and awkward. Gone is ability to change the background to a dark mode/theme. The stark white background is an eyesore in low light and tends to clash with most album artwork.

Sonos used to be innovative and trendsetting. With their latest app they seem to be following the trends of other music service apps that are also difficult and complicated to use. I hope they decide to go back to a simpler more streamlined app. At the very least they need to offer an option for dark mode that many users have requested.

Sonos is a fantastic product, they just may need to change their app developer. Sometimes less is more.

Horrible new UI

Update. Ok I figured out how to use the new version. Go through one set of menus to target a room. Then back up and go through the other menus to find music. Select the music. In the background the app will play to that last room you selected. Not at all intuitive and feels like you’re leaping into the air. If I remember before when you selected the room you could then make one step more to the music. Where do I want to play what. It was a connected thought.

What worked now doesn’t. It’s the type of change where you doubt anyone at the company actually uses their own product. Way back Skype through a similar change from very functional to unusable and unstable.

Navigation Improved - Same Terrible White Backround

This latest update significantly improved navigation ease and speed, but the UI is still sub par. Seriously, listen to your users and ditch the terrible bright white background! Guys- it’s terrible. I know your very acoustically focused, but I would like to keep my vision. If you even just inverted the colors it would be a huge improvement. At the very least give the option as a setting. The old dark background was great and I cannot think of one good reason of why this is better. Maybe there’s a kickback if people use pandora to control sonos?!
