"Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time writing a review when I should really just be pointing at a game and demanding that people play it. This is one of those times. Steve Jackson's Sorcery! is an absolutely marvellous fantasy storybook adventure. Lushly illustrated and expertly told, it should not be missed by anyone even remotely interested in the genre." -- Gamezebo
"Let’s not mince words here... Sorcery’s unique blend of tabletop-like roleplaying (including an incredible combat system quite unlike anything I’ve seen before), and elaborate branching pathways with custom scripts preserving the feeling of Steve Jackson’s work make me now want to… no, HAVE TO acquire an iOS device" - Just Press Start
From legendary designer Steve Jackson, co-founder of Lionhead Studios (with Peter Molyneux), and Fighting Fantasy and Games Workshop (with Ian Livingstone); and inkle, the studio behind the award-winning, App Store featured Frankenstein, Sorcery! is an interactive adventure like never before.
The app uses inklewriter technology to tell your journey in real-time, shaping the story around your choices. The text itself changes based on how you play and what you do, and in combat, the action is description on the fly based on how you play.
Featuring original illustrations by John Blanche, new character art by Eddie Sharam (DC Comics), an interactive map by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast) and music by David Wise (Donkey Kong Country).
"The Shamutanti Hills" is Part 1 of 4. Part 2, "Kharé: Cityport of Traps", is out now, and will load all of your completed Part 1 games to continue your adventure. Part 3 is coming later this year (but while you wait, check out our new game, 80 DAYS).

Fixed a bug that stopped the map displaying on some older devices.
Pretty good, too short for its price
An interactive fiction in a fantasy world with beautiful art, nice music and sound effects, and an interesting story. The battle system is innovative and fun even with its simplicity.
So the first time I played through it I thought thought it was fairly interesting but I guess I made many overly cautious decisions that had me explore almost none of the areas and fast-tracked me to the end. Since then I tried replaying it making different decisions and found it vastly more entertaining, clever, and interesting; still somewhat short for its price though. Overall i thought it was fairly easy except for a couple of challenging battles.
If you enjoy fantasy settings and RPG gameplay I think you will appreciate the depth and imagination of this world. I would highly recommend multiple play throughs or at least replaying some of the parts of the story to find the more interesting paths to Khare. You will be rewarded for being adventurous in this game. Although the price is steep at $5 I am interested enough in the story and the game is high-quality enough that I will probably purchase part 2.
Short but Worth it
This game is short, but it if you play Sorcery 2 and 3, you will be glad it is short. It is easy to replay many times to create different outcomes in Sorcery 2. You make certain choices that will make you really wonder if you did the right thing or not...and it's nice that you can replay the game so fast to find out what your actions do. My least favorite of the sorcery series but necessary!
A Must Buy
Simply a must try if you love text based game. This games just keeps on getting better. Buy the whole series as a package price because it is really worth it . So hard to put down. At the same time all should try 80 days from the same company
