A contributory art project for Christchurch:
Sound Sky is a location-sensitive, city-wide artwork in Christchurch, New Zealand which is constructed from and inspired by spoken contributions from residents. Using smartphones, the work allows people to listen to and share memories of the past and hopes for the future. In this way the musical audioscape will grow as the city grows and emerges over many years from the tragic events of 2010-2011.
Sound Sky is a partnership between artists Trudy Lane and Halsey Burgund, CEISMIC, Gap Filler and the Cantabrian Society of Sonic Artists. The project is generously supported by Creative New Zealand, Christchurch Council and the Aotearoa Digital Arts Network.
