“SoundCloud is focused on building out a massive trove of content, weaving it all into the Web and making it easier to share. The “YouTube for audio” analogy looks increasingly apt, especially if its metrics continue to shoot skyward.” - ReadWrite

“SoundCloud is a sharing machine. Remember the early days of audio online — when you had to download the Real Player or Windows Media Player to listen? The days of downloading before listening are over.” - USA Today

“It's an evolution of audio's most vital self-service creation and discovery platform, music's best analogue to Twitter, YouTube, and Kindle Direct Publishing. It's not just finding or sharing songs or podcasts or spoken-word readings your friends may be listening to — it's finding and sharing the people who make those recordings, too.” - The Verge

Listen up. Tyler Roche's 2 cents.

This app has so much potential. Yes, you finally answered our prayers by adding a shuffle option;BUT, you need to go back to your roots. I found the old OS was much more enjoyable to the vast majority of the consumer base. I mean, we don't even have the option to view the people we follow without knowing each and every name to the tee to put in the search bar.. So here is my 2 cents, put an option in the settings to revert back to the old OS (keep the shuffle option(; ). Program some sort of ticker that takes the time for each
-actively open- individual OS that the consumer decides to use, and relay all that info back to another dedicated server to total the time spent in each. Make this option VERY well know to the users. Possibly by making notifications upon opening the app after the update to vividly described the ability to switch and its importance. If anyone else reads this and agrees with me, do me a favor. Comment specifically "#Roche2Cents" and maybe the program dev's will say "Ohh maybe I should control-F the comment base for that exact hashtag" and they will finally implement the idea I've presented. As I'm sure many more people have thought of. Thank you for your time. (Will give 5 stars if this idea is implemented, or if the old OS abilities come back in their entirety)

Terrible, but what else is there

Every time I use this app I feel a surge of frustration. How can anybody design such a muddled, terrible app by accident? I'm imagining the app designer showing this to the boss proudly for a test run. The boss stumbling around on his phone trying to figure out what does what and where things are for an hour. And then - then - with the reputation and life of his Soundcloud endeavor on the line, inconceivably coming to the conclusion that this app is good enough to be released. People use Soundcloud because somewhere along the line it did what we wanted it to do, and we got invested by uploading some songs or whatever, and now we're just waiting it out hoping they'll get it together. Reader, if you can find something besides this that does what you need and has an app designed for it that is even slightly logical - avoid Soundcloud and go with the other service.

Love soundcloud, am not totally in love with the app

Soundcloud is awesome! But this version of the app has a few issues.
If I come across a song (through my stream or otherwise) that I have liked a while ago, the app will often not recognize that I have liked it before. If I press like, believing I haven't done so before, or that it hadn't worked the first time, the song will actually be removed from my likes as the app registers that I've just pressed the button for a second time.

There are also good aspects of the website that aren't available via the app, like viewing suggested tracks or suggested artists based on people you follow. I wish these options were available on iOS!
