What's New in Version 2.18.0
Squashed some bugs.
PASSBOOK! It has Passbook!!
App lets you check in easily to flights that already have your Rapid Rewards number on the reservation - that’s super cool. But if your flight doesn’t already have it, there’s no place to edit that reservation to add your rapid rewards number. I had to *gasp!* call a human at Southwest to do that. OK, it’s not terrible, but it was a waste of their time and mine; I’m already logged in to the app with my account, I just verified that that’s my flight and checked in for it… let me add my rapid rewards number to the reservation, right there in the app!
Also, support Passbook/Wallet is great (we waited a long time, and it’s there, and I’m really happy about that), and I think Southwest can shorten what most iOS users want to do: stick the boarding pass in Wallet. Currently you have to look the reservation up, select "view" from a popup, load it, then tap "add to Wallet." Added that Wallet button right in the screen once the checkin is successful, and even if that button just automates and does the other steps, that would be helpful and save us time.
App Keeps Crashing
Upon initial download and signing into my southwest account all was fine. After a few days though it automatically logs you out of the account. When I opened the app it kept asking me if I wanted to stay signed in even though it already logged me out. I said yes I want to stay logged it but it just kept giving me the same prompt over and over again until I finally just quit the app. Then it showed that no one was logged in so I clicked "login" and it just kept giving me some error message and never allowed me to actually log in even after quitting the app and restarting the phone multiple times. Very disappointed.
Complete rebuild needed. Add Apple Watch support. Needs a modern update so it looks better in iOS 9 on iPhone 6s' bigger screens. Looks like it's stuck in the past in iOS 6 for iPhone 4--really! Update and embrace the new, guys and gals!
Doesn't offer Apple Pay?!? Does have Wallet (formerly Passbook), but nothing for the rewards card. Add keychain support.
It's not buggy--that's good!! But it feels very antiquated and it's slow. Increase app bandwidth or something to make it faster or more NATIVE. SW is a great airline, but their technology seems way behind the competition.
