ISS is part of the Sat series of applications (ISS, HamSat and ProSat) and is a visualization/utility application that allows you to see the location of the International Space Station and other associated satellites (Soyuz, Progress, PSSC...) in realtime over the Earth (up to six satellites may be tracked simultaneously).
NOTE: NORAD only updates their elements once a day so rendezvous operations will be accurate pre-chase but until NORAD updates the elements for the rendezvous vehicle's state (within 24hrs) the position will look incorrect post dock.
You can see the Earth rendered either as a 3D globe or a 2D map using photo realistic texture maps for the Earth model. The orientation of the map is easily changed by a simple rotation of the device from portrait (3D) to landscape (2D). In either orientation you can zoom in and out as well as pan using the touch screen. Controls are given to allow you to select: the texture maps used, whether shading is performed, whether to draw political boundaries and if a lat/lon grid should be presented.
In addition, the application can calculate the rise/set times of the primary satellite, Sun and Moon for your specified location. In the case of the satellite calculations, you can further specify whether the overflight times should take into account optimal ground viewing characteristics (meaning the satellite is lit, the ground is dark and the max elevation is greater than 10 degrees)
If you want access to more satellites then please check out either HamSat (satellites specific to Amateur Radio operators) or ProSat (includes access to 700+ satellites)

Sweet phone app
I read the complaints, but my experience has been all positive. It provides a ton of information in a nice selection of graphic presentation formats.
Considering what it does on a pocket telephone, and also considering the raw data available, and the cheap price, it's pretty much an all around winner.
I have used it for several months now, but I'm itching for the addition of ham satellites, so I'm about to replace it with the Satellite Pro version from the same author. If you don't have a. need for tracking a wide variety of birds, this app is a bargain
This is a fun application, which continues to improve. I am impressed that the developer listens to the comments of users. For example, the initial release did not permit the user to input his or her location. Although this may not be important for iPhones, it can be for iPod Touches. With this enhancement, I have found the application to be superb for tracking ISS. I am glad I made the purchase and look forward to additional improvements.
Problem with 3-D map
I've used this app several times and it never seems to show the space station's correct location on the 3-D map in relation to my home. This morning I watched the space station go straight across the sky above my house in the Midwest part of the USA, and on the 3-D map, this app showed the space station being in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean near Africa. It shows my home on the 3-D map correctly but the location of the space station is never correct. This has been a problem for at least a year now and I would love to see this get fixed.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
