Immerse yourself in the wonders of a visual/audio experience like no other!
Take the role of viewer AND creator in a galaxy where you reign.
SpaceWiz allows you to interact with and control your environment at the highest level of complexity. With the manipulation of your own fingers on the playing surface, together with the technological wonders of the Chaos and Satellite generators, you fabricate particles, which then collide into planets.
You can even add the onboard real time synthesizer with its independent set of sounds and parameters to create your sonic masterpiece.
Regardless of your desires, this app will reward you with a mind-blowing creation. Sit back, and allow SpaceWiz to guide you on a uniquely woven audio-visual journey. Enjoy the ultimate sonic/visual wallpaper, or get busy and start throwing your own particles around the universe. Try rolling the dice for total randomization and see what happens! For creators who want to play a larger role in their SpaceWiz experience, you also have the opportunity to build your audio/visual world from the void!
Jordan Rudess explains:
"We partnered with developer Tobias Miller to see if an otherworldly dream I had could be made into reality. He was able to bring it completely to life."
Rudess and Miller worked together to create every unique sound and image. There are over 250 on-board instruments, as well as forty-five presets and access to control external midi instruments.
Top sound designer Richard Devine attests:
" I love SpaceWiz. It’s totally out of this world. I haven't seen/heard anything
like it before!"
Producer/Composer Steven Wilson adds:
"I just love it! I've been repeatedly hitting the random tone button until I hear something I like, and then working with the modulation and FX pages to develop it. Amazing work!"

SpaceWiz Is Great
As an electronic music composer, I think SpaceWiz is extremely well thought-out.
I have encountered a problem which persisted in my iPad2 and now, on both my iPad4s. The Orbit Rate, Orbit Width and Orbit Height do not work - they do not turn. It’s possible to use these controls in the Default Patch, and after you go to another patch, etc., these controls become inoperable. I have emailed the Support site, that’s on this site as well, and have received no answer. Orbital parameters are very very important…. and not having them is crushing. It’s also ominous - perhaps this will never work - for me?
I hope Wizdom music is reading this site, and can offer a solution.
I am current with iOS 7.0.4.
Wizards In Space
Spacewiz is a generative music app by the wonderfully creative Wizdom Music. The basic premise is that each planet represents a sound, and each dot represents an activation of each planet it touches.
At first glance, Spacewiz feels like a fun toy. The presets are beautiful (or ugly by design) and work well to demonstrate the possibilities of the app itself. Ambience can be manipulated using the gorgeous visual display, set on a timer, or completely random.
When you get into the sound possibilities, Wizdom has included a great variety of sound samples from the wizard himself, Jordan Rudess. Bass sounds, drones, piano-like notes and true leads, full percussion kits, and otherworldly effects are easy to access and assign to positions, pitches, and activation timings.
What's easy to overlook, however, are the implications of using this app in combination with other apps. For example, those with MIDI connections such as the iConnect can use the app as a MIDI controller, where each planet outputs a MIDI signal for use with other banks of sounds or patches. Got a good base but want extra sounds? Use a few MIDI planets to activate patches in Garageband OS-X, for example.
This app was created with attention to detail, and the loving interface and technical mechanics make it so much more than a plaything. Yet even in the hands of a child, something magical and musical can be created. Spacewiz is truly an extraterrestrial audio and visual instrument... And the universe is only as deep as you want it to be.
