Like the other one, this SED game has no ghosts, angels, demons, leprechauns...nothing supernatural. Yay! Puzzles are constructed to mimic actual police work, on street and in lab. I find the "corner the bad guy" puzzle the most challenging, but that's as it should be. Well done, G5! I rarely give 5 stars but you've earned them. More like this, please!
Voice actors are excellent, and speak in real, idiomatic American English. I read faster than characters talk, so I appreciate being able to skip thru dialog. (I'm playing a GF game that displays text but still makes me sit through lengthy speeches.) Some object names in HOS betray UK, or at least European, origin, as does the title. Should be Inquiry, not Enquiry—after all, it's set in Manhattan.
Map speeds game—highlights only places you need go to right now, so no pointless wandering. Some locations may be in wrong NY borough on map—one spot might be in New Jersey. But I'm picking nits.
Hmph. Posted this review, then went back to finish game—and got prompted for a review! Annoying. The prompt promised a sequel, so here I am updating. Wanna see what I get!
I really liked the sequel better. Most sequels have problems with a story line. I also liked that you allowed us as a player to progress on the comic sections ourself. Now the only thing left is to step up the hidden section one more notch. By adding in that you have some items that you can't find unless you do other things first. Like open something and more than just a drawer. Although I did like that you didn't know what drawer held what items. You also could have it be that you have to make something inside the hidden area in order to get the item that is hidden. Just a thought to throw out.
I'm really enjoying the game, however I am very frustrated with the difficulty in tapping on objects. Numerous times I have to tap on the object four or five times before it recognizes that I am tapping on that item. At times it would appear that the object is incorrect see you continue looking for item only to go back and try another time or two and finally get move recognize you tapping on the item for. Similar tapping frustration is when you have to tap to continue when the detectives are discussing sometimes you have to tap precisely where it says tap to continue other times you contact anywhere around the screen. Please fix this tapping issue!
