Good but needs a "notes" field

I like the app - the only thing missing is a "notes" or "nickname" field for each record in the results tab.
Here's why: I travel a lot in my job and often need to find places to stop or stay with a strong Internet connection. This app would help a lot in that respect if I could make a note of where I was when I ran the speed test. No, knowing what city the server was in doesn't help, and yes I realize that just because a place was fast or slow last time I was there doesn't mean it will be next time. All the same I've noticed some places tend to be faster than others and this app COULD help me keep track IF it had a "notes" field. Other than that I am pretty happy. Only other thing that might help - maybe when no connection can be found, instead of just searching and searching and searching, something could come up that said "No connection found; continue searching for connection?" or something like that. Anyways, if you added a notes option that'd get you four stars if not five from me. Thanks!

Hi! We agree that a "notes" section would be most helpful and it's definitely on our list of cool things we want to make happen. Also noted on the connection messaging feedback—we'll be sure to pass it on to the team. Thanks for using Speedtest and happy testing!

Now won’t remember favorite server

Program used to work well but with the recent update now it suddenly won’t remember my preferred server setting and every time I open the app it reverts back to some other server that’s only a few miles from me, well DUH! - My speed to there is always less than 1 ms. That’s useless and not what I need to know I want to know how fast my connection is good places like Dallas Texas where the nearest Xbox game servers is, etc.

I’ve re-set it several times to my preferred test server in Dallas, tap save And it indicates that it saved it as my preferred server HOWEVER as soon as I exit the app and re-enter the app it immediately ignores that and goes back to the wrong place ...completely ignoring the server that I have chose is my preferred server! Which makes it completely useless to me since I don’t want to have to go through all that to scroll through a long list to find the server that I want to use every time I load the app!

....if they don’t fix it soon I’ll be looking for a new app to do my Internet speed testing.

Developer Response

Hi! Sorry to hear you're having trouble. While we weren't able to reproduce the issue on our end, we are working on improving this feature in our next release. In the meantime, here are a couple things to try: 1) First, make sure the blue star is displayed next to your preferred server after swiping all the way to the right (you will no longer see the word "Favorite" under the star, just the blue star itself). It sounds like you are doing this, but it's worth double-checking just to be sure. 2) You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You would lose your results history, which we know is a bummer, but it may do the trick. Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback, and thanks for using Speedtest!

Won’t save favorites! Update!

The Riddick

Total crap. What’s the point of favorites if it doesn’t save it like Ookla app used to do!..... How do you get paid for this crap?

Every time I open the app it selects a new server. Idiot!.... 🤨

Updated... still doesn’t save favorite server..
I must say you have some very unskilled programmers.

Reply to developers reply. Do I sound like an idiot? I test beta and have submitted many bugs for review. I have received many Apple engineer replies thanking me for showing them bugs and corrections for issues I discovered. How do you think I saved my server as favorite?? I hit the change server... Find my favorite server.... then three dots and saved as my favorite. I know how that works cause I’m not an idiot. It keeps favorite saved only as long as speedtest is open or running multiple speedtests. If I close or swipe up then open speedtest app later or immediately after closing then my favorite server is gone! I must type server name in search again and find it again! I’ve done this over 20 times and it never saves the server like old version used to do flawlessly after first attempt. Here is an idea. Give us the old version back because it actually WORKED!! Don’t change and break what wasn’t broken to begin with.... Oops too late.

Developer Response

Hey there! Luckily, the ability to favorite a server is still available in the newest version of Speedtest. To do so, open the change server screen by tapping the server name, tap the 3 vertical dots beside the server you'd like to favorite, and then tap "Favorite this Server". That should do the trick! If not, the issue may lie in the device itself. Hope this helps– thanks for using Speedtest!
