Customer Reviews

adware app, beware

This app is a simple way to test network path connectivity, and perhaps some sort of minimal relative network metrics. As designed, this app simply CANNOT test network performance, relative or absolute performance. Do NOT use this app for network performance decisions.

I strongly recommend, if you use this app, use for a temporary network issue, and IMMEDIATELY remove the app when your issue is resolved.

app deficiencies and problems

this app tracks your geo-location, and does not warn the user of this tracking. most likely this is done to sell your device ads.

no app that uses ads as part of its design can ever possibly be used for performance assessment. period, exclamation point.!

it is VERY misleading to list remote severs available for the test by geographical distance (e.g. miles). the only "distance" that matters is the "network" distance, in terms of network devices and network transactions (e.g. number of hops, performance of routers, switches, 10-baseT, 100-base T, gig-E network segments).

this app checks for updates EVERY time the app is used, and warns the user of new versions. besides being annoying-ware, any app performing version checking is very suspect of impacting performance of the app. C'mon, ookla, you can design apps for users better than this annoyance.

Finally!

Took you guys long enough. I think this app was one of the first apps that ever launched ever on the iPhone. It is long overdue for you to give us an iPad app and I have to be honest.... It's awesome! Doesn't do anything new mind you, besides landscape mode, but It doesn't have to.

Great work guys!

Finally iPad support! Love it!

Thanks for the major update! It took a while too, but worth the wait.

I'm willing to pay remove ads and support the app, but there isn't a prompt letting me know how much I'm paying, it just goes directly to in-app authorization, so I didn't do it....
