Old school to too cool!
How did we ever get by without phones? Even worse? How did we get by with cruddy phone apps? We all had them. We all thought we were nerd-arific. Sadly, we all ate the same humble pie. Your secret is safe with me.
Fortunately, we live in a beautiful age full of a plethora of apps. Even more exciting, the amount of different vendors there are when it comes to a "type" of app. In this case, Speedtest has quite a few competitors. I use the word "competitors" loosely. I have found few that compare in features. Even fewer, offered any type of free version.
I can't remember my life before Speedtest. It combines ease of use, accuracy, and value in one app. It's simple enough for the home user and robust enough for the network admin. This app should be on the phone/tablet of anyone that works with networks, including home users.
Excellent app
I was having horrible connection problems and SpeedTest showed the hard data validating my problems. My internet was finally fixed once I showed them my SpeedTest results.
When I have an issue with my internet provider I immediately go to SpeedTest and check my speeds. I'm a serious online gamer and if my games aren't performing I'm able to determine if problem is my connection or the game using SpeedTest.
Everyone should have the SpeedTest app and use it daily. You may discover your paying for bandwidth service your not getting.
Keeps Internet Provider honest
I've been using this app for a while at my house so I'm familiar with its usefulness in diagnosis of wifi vs ISP issues. When I visited my mom's home, she complained that the internet surfing is much slower than usual. So I used Speedtest to diagnose the issue which was caused by less than half of the usual speed provided by ISP, in this case AT&T. So I called the AT&T to complain,...and magically the usual speed is restored without me doing anything on my end. This led me to believe that they are throttling speed for unsuspected customers even though the representative insisted that that's not so.
