If you are not a government issued ID business, DO NOTJOIN
Square is very sneaky in making you join and tell you that you are able to start accepting payments "right away". To the average customer and non business user, this seems fine. However, once you receive your first payment. Square will hold all your funds and make you provide your business information including but not limited to: business name, government issued Business ID, business adress, business logo, business advertising, social media.
This is NOT mentioned at time of registration. Square does not mention you have to be a business entity. Customer service is non existent unless you prove your business information. Which for people using it for personal use, does not exist. I now have held funds with no way to get them out and all this because Square failed to mention the terms CLEARLY. I plan to pursue Square legally for compensation on held funds.
I've been using square for about a year and a half now since I started and failed my first mlm business with Amway...since then I started a dance studio and use square to accept payments and as my pos system...it's so simple and RELIABLE,,never had a late deposit into my account...thanks square
Considering the price (app is free) and the reports etc on the web, it's really a great Point of Sale system. However, it really needs split payments for iOS- had I known that initially, I might have gone a different route. Also, need to be able to apply discounts at the time of sale so it shows on the receipt. Otherwise, it's great.
