SRT Wizard is designed to create SRT subtitles for a video with a transcript. Many utilities out there make editing an existing SRT file easy, but nothing makes the initial pass very easy. SRT Wizard is our solution for getting started fast.
It’s simple and easy:
- Select the video and transcript files
- Play the video
- Click the words you hear to create subtitles
- Save the SRT

If you’re desperate, it’ll do the job, but only on multiple attempts
Let me say that I am definitely thankful for this app. Why there are not other viable SRT generator options available for Mac is beyond me, but this is certainly better than trying to write out a transcript manually. That being said, although this app does work, it is super buggy, crashes often, and requires a scary amount of rhythm-game perfection to be able to successfully time out your subtitles on the first try. There is no “reset” option, and because of the various glitches, editing your subtitles once they’ve been set is unnecessarily complicated - and there’s always the risk it’ll randomly crash and youll lose your work (in fact, I’m writing out of frustration because that just happened!). But after three or four attempts, you’ll have a perfectly usable SRT file. The app definitely needs work, but it does work.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
