So close, and yet so far...
Overall, I’ve been impressed with Stagelight. It’s got some great instruments and plugins, great options for either linear or clip-launch DAW views, and some of the best audio I/O support I’ve seen on iOS. I was even cool paying for support for AUv3 plugins with the in app purchase. However, this app also has some glaring flaws for serious users:
The largest problem is a lack of comprehensive MIDI support. From what I can see, there’s little or no MIDI mapping, no options for sending MIDI automation and CC’s to hardware, and generally nowhere near enough MIDI integration for pros to adopt this app. This is especially true for hardware users who would prefer an Ableton style clip-launch experience, or who would like to use this to automate other gear, or use other instruments and pedals to trigger Stagelight in live performance.
If Stagelight added the MIDI functionality of an app like, say, MODSTEP, Stagelight would take the crown for ease of use AND being full-featured. That’s what pros need to make the switch.

Thanks for the review and constructive feedback. Good news is we're already planning support for your request and we'll be working on it soon. I'll update this reply when it's ready.
“Easiest way to create music on iOS”? No, that’s GarageBand by miles. Stagelight may be the most powerful (for all the good it does the user if the features are hidden), but the ease of use is a disaster. They invented their own goofy way of doing context menus (fire the idiot who made that insane decision, right now), but there are very few of them. I worked part way through the drum tutorial but it was really slow and painful so I stopped it. From there I was able to create a bass pattern. It was inaudible, then it was audible, but then it randomly vanished. No idea why. I created a new one but wasn’t able to make it audible. You touch stuff and the screen changes randomly. Tracks have a hidden volume control. I found it once by accident but couldn’t find it again. The track volume control is drawn with very dark gray lines on a black background, a laughably stupid way to annoy the user. I couldn’t figure out how to delete tracks.
Yeah, I know UI design is hard. But it’s not impossible.
It costs US$15 to use AUv3s.
Are you pulling my leg?

Thanks for checking out Stagelight and we're sorry you had issues using it. I'd love to hear more about your experience and ways you think it could be better. Feel free to email us at email@example.com and we can continue the discussion there.
Auv3 doesn’t work properly. As soon as I exit the screen displaying the auv3 effect it is removed from the session.
Feels nice and smooth but still needs some smoothing out.
If Auv3 is fixed and add midi auv3 then it could be a 5star app.
Developers are working hard to make this a 5 star app and if updates stay consistent it will be among the iOS favorites
Developer Response ,
When you add an instrument track and are browsing through your AU plugins, you can either press the + button to add it or drag and drop the plugin from the list to the track view. We'll fix the issue you are seeing the browser in our next update. AUv3 MIDI support is also coming soon too. Stay tuned!
