Scopely is bad ,

Safe- for now

So far it’s a good game with minimum pay to win and lots of things to do, but only because it’s been out for a day and everyone is the same rank and stuff and there’s nothing TOO pay to win (at the moment at least, considering this is a Scopely game.) And i’ve lost faith in Scopely as they are extremely unresponsive and have been censoring me on their forums and ignoring my emails. I’m serious i have proof. BUT this game seems pretty good for a start but i guarantee they’re going to be rolling out $50 loot crates anytime now. Character rarity is 3 star max and so are ships but you can guarantee when you max them out next week they’ll release 4 stars that completely shadow your characters. Did i mention when you roll a loot box you don’t get the character, you get fragments, and to get say, spock or kirk, you need 100, and with about 3 fragments per pull, well, have fun buddy. did i also mention the chances of getting the fragments are 5%? Yup you read that right. But, i digress, it is pretty good right now but again that’s only because they don’t have much of a pay to win aspect, YET. I’m just glad they can’t censor my review on apple store!

*UPDATE*

Not even a month since the games been released and they’re already selling a virtual ship for $50 that’s rarer and more powerful than any ship until you hit 3* ships! Don’t bother!

Developer Response ,

Hey there!

We're so sorry that your experience with STFC has not lived up to what you expected. Our devs have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to address several bugs and glitches reported through our support team so that our players can have an enjoyable experience. If you're finding any of the gameplay elements confusing we certainly have an open ear to feedback from our players. Would you mind shooting an email over to startrek-support@scopely.io for our dev team to take a look?

We have several immersive events and updated features cooking that will come in future updates and i hope that you'll give the game another shot and engaging in the STFC universe.

Fun but...

Fun but still needs work. It is an addicting game that has a fun community. There are quite a few bugs that need to be worked out. Sometimes when you click on a planet the pop up window with info and travel info closes immediately so you can’t travel till you reset. Sometimes your ships get stuck in travel loops and you can’t control them till you reset. You aren’t supposed to attack people till level 10 but if they are on a mining spot it’s open season. I really don’t like that you can’t zoom out fully to see the full system or base. The touch sensitivity is great for the base and galaxy buy you need to swipe 20 times just to get across a small system. Again, you can’t zoom out fully to see the system so you’re left swiping 50 times to see if there is a mission waypoint in the system. The quick “go” button for build/upgrade only brings you to one building which is usually not the building you want to upgrade. Would like to see some advanced options for sensitivity control and a music fader.

Game of War - Reskinned

I don’t write many reviews, but I like Star Trek and this game does the franchise a disservice.

Initially the game is pretty cool, nice mission layout, exciting to build your ship and base up quickly, but then it turns into the mundane click-build timer game that you saw in another war game from a few years ago. The storyline keeps you going with the missions, but they feel the same after awhile and you end up doing them just to advance the story and get free resources. You will eventually ask yourself, “This game feels like another game I’ve played before, what is it?” It’s Game of War, almost to a ‘T’. Once I came to that realization I dumped the game. What’s worse about this game is there is no way to protect yourself if you’re mining or above level 10 and you’re not at your base (and even that goes away after level 15). The game has a lot of potential, but too much is broken and the developers need to steer away from the cash-grab mentality. Don’t waste any money on this game, glad I didn’t.

Note to the developers, if you make a good product players will pay you for it. Don’t throw gimmicks in a game, you cheapen it and it leaves a bad taste in one’s mouth.
