Good, but needs a way to save articles
Generally, I like the Star Tribune news app. Navigation is fairly easy. Most of the news content of the print edition is available in the app (no comics). But there are a few ways the app could be better.
There should be a way to bookmark or save articles I want to read later. And the share button should use the built-in share capability so I could save articles to Pocket and other supported services. Add those features and this is a 5 star app!

I love the splash screen photos! They capture some of Minnesota's true essence. I wish I could get a hi-res copy of Dennis Anderson's black lab with a pheasant in his mouth. The only hassle is knowing when or if all the images have been downloaded before going offline. This seems to be a common to (Adobe Air?) many newspaper applications. Some have a progress bar, but even this does not reflect a complete download of all images. I am so happy the Strib is leading the way successfully with digital news.
The layout of this application does not allow for easy viewing of multiple story headlines. It forces you to go into each section to see more of the stories. The iPhone app is better at doing this then the iPad app. Developers should take notes from other news based apps which allow easy scanning of news headlines without multiple taps.
