Works great on iPhone but not on Apple Watch
The app is exceptional at what it advertises to do. I’ve been using it for years and it doesn’t give issues often, at least not often enough to remember. The watch counterpart needs a lot of work though and it saddens me because I like what the Watch app is setting out to do. The problem is the Watch doesn’t accurately update its information regarding your balance in your card or you star total on your rewards. It appears to rely on your phone to do that, so you need to open your phone app to have the Watch refresh and update its info—which defeats the purpose of the Watch! If that wasn’t bad enough, it’s bloody slow at updating as well which makes the experience more cumbersome. Overall, I love the idea of the Watch being able to do everything, from paying with it, to updating its information, reloading from right there, to even having the complication in your watch face to see how your rewards are doing and your balance. I’m still giving it four stars because the iPhone version works great and for most that’s enough but it’s still sad that the other version seems to be ignored from the devs.
Rewards, Cards and Ease
Who doesn’t enjoy earning free rewards? Especially when it’s a free reward that is anything you want in a drink. If earning free drinks isn’t enough there is also multiple ways to earn free drinks faster than the usual punch card. Then there is the ease of receiving gift cards and adding them to the app. To top it all off all of the Starbucks cards can be transferred to one card on the app for ease of payment and knowing when it’s time to replenish the funds. Ordering through the app is a piece of cake (which you could also order with the app) with any drink adjustments you could possible dream up. This frees one from all lines; just order, pay from app and pick up at the store of your choosing. Starbucks really couldn’t make this any simpler. I love the app. I love Starbucks. Happiness is a great coffee from your favorite barista. 😀
I’ve used this app successfully and loved it since they first released it and started the mobile order program, but for about the last 3-6 months I can’t even log in. I know I have the correct password and email, but it constantly tells me incorrect password. I’ve tried password resets, deleting and reinstalling the app and nothing works. I can log in through chrome or safari on my phone, but the same login info through the app is unsuccessful every time. I’ve gotten messages including incorrect password, system error try again later and that there is no account associated with my email.
I’m getting tired of messing with it and having it take up space on my phone and be totally useless (still sends me notifications though!). If you find you’re having troubles, just know that it probably is them, not you.
And I know my piddly one star review is a drop in the ocean of the million-plus positive reviews, but I can’t seem to get help or resolution to this not working from Starbucks employees or over the phone.
