An Independent Perspective
News apps may be a dime a dozen – but an app from the only news media organization inside the U.S. Department of Defense that enjoys First Amendment privileges is a different story. Other DoD media report only what the government says – only Stars and Stripes reports on military issues and events from an independent perspective, relying on multiple sources, not just the command’s point of view.
An Illustrious History
Reporting continuously since 1942, Stars and Stripes has covered every major conflict since World War II. Stripes reporters have served alongside American soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen in Korea, Vietnam, the first Gulf War, Bosnia and Kosovo. They embed with military units and on Navy ships to cover the conflicts and wars around the world, and still report from Afghanistan.

A life goes on
I was a dependent reading the Stripes in 1967 while my father was stationed in France, then residing in St Avold, Meuse Argonne and Flanders Field as an ABMC dependent. I joined and once assigned to Europe had to have the Paper. Now that I am retired and in the US, home delivery rather a bad idea, your app keeps me in the loop of what I hold dearly in my heart, news of our activities all over the world. I got it all in one little hand gels device. I wish I could get a couple of hard copies just because. Thank you for all the efforts that go into this program.
Best all around weather app
A great weather forecasting ap by far. Well worth your time & Monet. However, I would like to see a button added which when selected wii reset the globe's correct spin. Granted all one need do is to set the globe cot spinning. My problem is I can never get it to spin at a reasonable speed when I try it's too slow or too fast, either the human race either floats into space due to the lack of gravity b/c of the slow spin OR they are flung off sort of trying to stay on a merry-go-round going Mach 2,
Stars and Stripes Forever
For those of us who served, this is an invaluable connection to our roots. When I was stationed overseas I read the Stripes daily. With this app I can still keep in touch and get news important to me as a retiree, and more. Stripes features significant, important, articles on topics that are ignored by corporate mainstream media. At times, Stripes starts or drives the conversation with their reporting - and others follow.
