What's New in Version 1.9.0
Breaking news Stashers!
Say hello to our brand new feature, Smart-Save. Smart-Save analyzes your spending habits and then automatically transfers money from your checking account to your Stash Cash when you've got extra cash to spare.
Once the money settles in your Stash Cash, you can invest it or leave it for a rainy day. We’ll never initiate a transfer when your balance is low, and you can always adjust the amount you save using the feedback buttons. Also, you can always withdraw or turn Smart-Save off anytime.
More news! We're also iPhone X compatible. So, if you're part of the lucky crew that got their hands on one of those beauties, your Stash app will be in tip-top shape.
And of course, we've squashed a few of those pesky bugs we keep finding. Thanks for Stashing!
Beginner, I'm so excited about Stash!
Wow! I've started at the end of July and I feel very confident in this app. I've always wanted to invest. First I tried Merrill Lynch with my bank and they even called me, at first I thought I was opening just a retirement / savings account with them but they said I signed up for stocks which is very confusing since I thought it was savings. But I tried and really I couldn't understand nothing of that, I still haven't deposited anything because it's too confusing. So I researched other ways and this is when I found Stash. I started with $30 a week out my checking account then as of 2 weeks ago my only return was $2.35 and I had 4 ETFs but one seemed to not be doing so well, I know they say sell when market is low but as a beginner I don't understand all that but as it was not doing me well and the other 3 were better , I sold that one and put $10 out my stash account into the one doing extremely well. I feel very confident in my choices and as of yesterday I have a return of $4.35... In 2 weeks $2, that's amazing to me as it took me 4 months to get only $2.35. I'm still learning and I still want to open retirement and savings in stash as they offer both. I even got $5 for getting someone to sign up and it's $1 a month fee to stash :) no one can beat that! Win win!
Did not link bank account correctly
So I was apprehensive to actually link a bank account but I finally decided to trust the site. Alas my courage was betrayed. After entering all the information and getting a message that the account was linked I tried to place a trade and stash didn’t have the account linked. I have no idea what all my info was used to do but it wasn’t to set up an account. Now I have to change all my bank credentials! STAY AWAY from this app.
Update: I contacted customer support through the app using their contact email. I described my issue and expressed my frustration. The response from stash was one sentence and I quote: ‘your account is closed. ‘ the nice sounding public facing response you see below is just that. A nice sounding public facing response. If I could give the app zero stars I would.
Don’t bother, unknown fees
So after trying out the app and not being too happy with the results I decide to sell everything and try something else my husband said he liked. I had a pending transaction that kept showing pending for over a week, well I guess it finally decided to finish posting and my bank declined it so stash decided to charge me the NSF even though my bank didn’t? And took the fee from the money I was receiving after selling my EFTs. Makes no sense, rating one star since they seem to want to take fees for no reason, you’d think after I was trying to sell everything they’d say it makes sense to stop transactions from my bank since it wouldn’t move from pending status and I didn’t want it charging me anymore. Don’t bother with this app guys.
